Once you asked the question I realized I didn't know either. So I looked it up and the answer is a limited yes. https://www.mlssoccer.com/about/send-off-review-procedure The last bullet point under "MLS Appeals Process" for what is eligible is:
I assumed "suspension due to yellow card accumulation" had to do with exactly that and not a "suspension" due to a 2nd yellow in a game and resulting red, resulting in a 1-game suspension for red card. I suppose it could apply to either case but the latter seems like a bit of a stretch. Harkes is not going to be suspended for yellow card accumulation proper, he's being suspended for getting a red card.
Well, that could be the way to read this. If it is then bullet two is our guy: Either way it seems reviewable.
Oh I didn’t see the other bullets since you said it was applicable in a limited way and quoted just the last bullet.
Yeah, I hadn't read that last bullet as possibly over several games leading to a suspension, so I grabbed it because it sounded so dead on.
Ian Harkes will be available for this game after all. “NEWS: Independent Review Panel Upholds Earthquakes’ Appeal of Ian Harkes Red Card” (SJEarthquakes.com - Friday, 6/20/25) GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
