Random thoughts and observations about last night's match -

A very different atmosphere from Saturday's match with the stadium about 1/3 full and not youth teams in attendance. Also, we had no problem getting to the match and in fact arrived in the stadium 20 minutes before kick.

In the first half the Rapids just didn't seem to have the energy needed to produce quality chances. Early on FCD ceded space and was willing to start defending around midfield. Around the twentieth minute or so they started to put on high pressure and the Rapids struggled to get the ball into the attacking thirfd.

The Rapids defended in a 4-3-3 with Price in the center of the midfield. In possession both Shinyashiki and Bassett pushed up high while Price distributed from deep.

Trusty played the "Vines role" at LB, frequently pushing high up the pitch. He's gaining more confidence all the time.

When the Rapids brought in Mezquida and Beitashour in the second half they defended in a 4-4-2. With Beitashour on the right - I had assumed he would come in for Trusty at LB. Later when Moor came in Beitshour moved to LB and the Rapids played 5 in the back line.

Interestingly, Toure wasn't on the bench for this match. Hard to imagine they won't need hime again something soon.

One disappointment this season is Shinyashiki’s poor skills. He’s never been a hustle player, but I thought his finishing skills were first class. This season it’s poor touch after poor touch. Loss of confidence?

Barrios on the other hand is all hustle...which has turned into goals. Yesterday’s was a goalie blunder (high school level), but even that could have turned into a rebound, which was probably his objective. Never hurts to put it on net.
