Any educated guesses as to who it is?

I hope it's not a rent-a-player for the rest of this year that never plays here again. If that's the case I'd rather see Luna and Top get the minutes. If it's a guy that will be here next year and beyond that isn't on their last leg then ok.

Just taking some wild stabs, but the "international window" closed. So I guess that the player in question would have to be Canadian or American. However, if he is "working on a visa", he is obviously a Canadian "striker" who is "currently out of contract"?

That should narrow it down quite a bit.

I was under the impression that because the international window closed, that only meant if a player was under contract and could still be brought in under a free afterwards. *shrugs*

Yes, I believe out of contract players can still be brought in after the window closes. Pretty sure loans are still available as well.

Bringing in a striker for the last 9 games when we have no realistic chance of making the playoffs doesn't make much sense if we lose him at the end of the season. I hope this is a move to build for next season.

Any player from any country that was out of contract during the last window can still be brought in, up until the roster freezes.

Is there even a point in guessing, ie is it someone we would know, or is this a guy like the Tahitian Treat?

Better yet, will we be happy with this striker in your opinion? You know, knowing how most of us overreact and what not.

If it isn't Mario Gomez, I'm buying Brian Ching jersey.

You mean that kind of overreaction? :)

Herculez Gomez? or would he have to be allocated?

    I would like him.

That's actually not a bad thought. I think he's said he would be open to returning to MLS. He could play in Europe, but I haven't heard any rumors linking him to European clubs. That would be very good indeed. Surely too much to hope for, though.

I have zero faith in the FO. Any move will be a bust.

Some people will and some won't.
    Just kidding.

I would not expect anyone to be overwhelmed. Its a mid season player out of contract... you get what you pay for.

After a gold medal performance at the Olympics, FCD FO makes a bold move and acquires....

I assume he'll be Uruguayan because of Clavijo.

    Two thoughts:

    1) Let's make sure he can pass a legit physical and isn't damaged goods
    2) It had better not be George Weah!
