He will be fine The same with Dembele. I have no idea why you call them flops BTW list of recent Real flops for future references: Hamez, Jovic, Odriozola, Mariano Diaz
Many reasons Griezmann annoys me (some not his fault) : - The Decision ... tells Barca he is signing and backs out. - Played out of position (not his fault), but ... - ... at least could be finishing some of those chances better. - People saying he'd play Suarez position better than Suarez. - One good thing has been that he hustles. Dembele I half feel bad for him now. But he didn't take his job seriously for first 2 years. He is a flop for now because of his injuries and managed to flub that chance vs Liverpool with a pathetic attempt at goal. Our flops are costing us 100m+ each player plus high wages. Can't compare to Madrid's flops. But I wouldn't call Griezmann a flop ... just underdelivering in a tough situation for him being played out of position.
We really have to stop trying to play possession football in our own half. It's too risky and wastes a ton of time that we could use to create chances. Our guys should make it a habit to send passes over the defense. Sure often we'll lose possession but you have plenty of men behind the ball to stop any counters compared to misplacing a short pass in front of our own net. And when the over pass is received we'll be able to create chances to score. It seems a no-brainer. To be honest many teams now are addicted to possession with no end result. We saw it this past week with Liverpool and Ajax. Simply passing the ball back and forth accomplishes nothing. Happy with the score and people not talking about Messi not scoring anymore. I think we need a change in philosophy to be a better team i.e. abandon possession football all the time. Mix it up!
To be fair it's impossible to not play possession football vs Atletico. As for changing it up, that's what Valverde was more or less doing. I agree with too many passes in the back ... and when we break the press there is literally no reward. But we have no speed to play long balls. So we'd hoof it up and try to press high to steal it back. Given we don't press as well as we used to, that becomes a problem.
Ok then. Time will tell Well Barca has 3 players over 100m (only ones ever) and they are still at the club. Let's see if they are sold and for how much. Because if you pay 130 (Cou) and get back 80 it's still better than paying 75 and recouping 10 (so far) So far the only outright flop that Barca has (and had) is Arda. For the rest more or less their fees are ballanced As for Real let's wait a little. Their flops will become apparent in the near future. I have no idea why they have so much hope for the future Asensio has done more at 19 than plenty of their sure future talents and look at him now
I don't mean sending long balls just for a quick counter. If our guys get the ball past the halfway line then we can settle in and play our possession football. Maybe there isn't a lot of reward but there is less risk.
Our only hope for Dembele is if he plays himself out of this situation. Right now, his value in the market is peanuts if we try to sell him. Teams will wait for his contract to run out. Not to mention serious hamstring injuries for his type of play are not good. He is a huge flop right now because of his price tag. I'd be happy with 80m for Coutinho. Need to find a buyer though because his stock is quickly dropping. Jovic is not a flop yet BTW. Hasn't had many minutes to play. Even if the likes of Rodrygo, Vinicius flop....they'd probably be able to recoup most of those costs better than us with Dembele and Coutinho. I mean ... what we'd lose in Coutinho in your math is more than Vinicius cost. Their biggest flop lately was to resign Bale
It's the chance of his lifetime so he is going to show a lot of effort and he does seem to be a player with some aggressiveness.
