You could literally hear the sigh of relief from the fans when the final whistle blew. Messi standing with a look as if we just lost the game.
It was a brilliant goal. But it wouldn't have been possible at all if Angel didn't have three yards of space around him. Pique was on him, both goalside and ballside, and took his attention off him -- he totally missed when Angel separated and created the space to receive the ball.
Good win against an in-form opponent. We have to take into account that this Getafe currently sits 3rd and came in on the heels of 4 straight wins with 0 goals allowed, including 3-0 over Valencia and 2-0 over Athletic.
The goal certainly raised his stock with the FCB board who want to sign him as an emergency transfer.
We did a good job string together passes and offensively we are seeing improvements over Valverde era already even with no Suarez. One thing that worries me and the first time I've seen it is this season. As the game draws to a close we seem to be running out of steam. Even last season, we would always control the game the last 10-20 minutes but this season it's been opposite. That worries me a lot because it inevitably means we'll be on a bad end of some remontadas. With possession ball, we should be tiring the other team which has to chase but the opposite is happening. Our guys seem gassed at the end.
Even if we break that high pressure, we don't have the speed to take advantage of it. It's truly a messed up situation. Last 4 wins have been by 1 goal difference. Can't expect to not drop many points like this.
A lot of those stringed passes today was on defense. Very high risk game. It doesn't help that even when we don't concede a lot of scoring chances like today, the opposition always seems to snatch at least a goal. So there is a bit of bad luck going on when in other recent seasons opponents were squandering chances left and right and getting us off the hook.
The second goal was beautiful team play. Other than Messi thought Griezmann and Roberto made some beautiful passes in the final third as well but we just didn't convert. It's not really a high risk game. When teams press, we should be able to play out from the back. Pressing is also risky for the other team because if we beat the press they are caught underhanded themselves. There seems to be more purpose with passing under Setien IMO.
Yes, but like I said, right now we don't have players that can take much advantage when we break that press. The other team easily tracks back in time most of the time. That's why teams are doing it more often to us.
Because we were playing against 13 players. Impossible to be critical for the team when referee is so obviously biased.
Sure our pace is a bit lacking but Fati was doing nicely with space today and Semedo has shown that he can as well.
I may be biased but I think we were. Based on metrics and overall form we were the best team in the world for more seasons that any other team. 09-10 10-11 11-12 14-15 15-16 For those five seasons I feel confident saying we were the best team in the world.
