    Ah-boo!!!!

Hold ALT and press 0231 on the number pad (not the numbers on top of the keyboard), release ALT. If you're on a laptop you'll need to use the Fn key in some manner to use the alternate keys on the letters. On my laptop I have to press (in this order) Fn+Shift+ALT+mklj

    ç

I have a lot of those memorized at this point :D

The Philly MLS bid has apparently been taken over, 'conquered' if you will, by a master race of Spaniards. It's difficult to tell from this vantage point whether they will consume the captive supporters group or merely enslave them. One thing is for certain: there is no stopping them; the Spaniards will soon be here. And I, for one, welcome our new Spanish overlords. I'd like to remind them as a trusted BS poster, I can be helpful in rounding up others to toil in their underground sugar caves. [/Kent Brockman]

FC Barça being part of the Philly bid and offering capital, expertise and potentially soccer talent? Cool.

FC Barça imposing their identity/colors/name on the team? Really really bad.

That would make me laugh to no end. Now if the Philly fans start calling other BS posters racists and haters, that would put it over the top.

If we are talking about branding the team I'd accept the colors.... wouldn't want anything else though.

Connection wise I'd be all for it though....

Which is why we want them, and will eventually have them assuming Barca does not give us their name, crest, and shirt. Get it?;)

Nope - no colors either. I'm not wearing an advertisement for a rich European team.

    Getting back on topic....

If the present ownership were to let Barcelona come in and take over with new colors, etc., then Jay Sugarman and the rest of the owners must be in more financial trouble than we know. In that case I would welcome the third richest soccer club coming in and rescuing the franchise.

If it's just a marketing and player development relationship, then that's great too.

Either way, this is not bad news.

Agreed. I see no down side to this. This isn't a MetroStars situation where they are coming in and re-branding an existing team that loses all of it's (admittedly crappy) history. We're still a blank slate...

More money coming into the club in this economy is never a bad thing.

If Barca comes in, we can be rebels, and be so much cooler. While the "fans" are wearing their Red and Blue, we "supporters" will be in our light blue and yellow and thus special and different. It'll be punk.

GolTV had some MLS update this evening, and spoke about the barca execs coming to philly back in february to check out the stadium site. i wouldn't have believed this if i didn't hear it with my own ears, but they said philadelphia is believed to be one of the front-runners to get an expansion team for the 2010 season. front-runners?!

hot damn! we're getting a team! HOOAH!

actually, what they played in was kit eerily similar to the current MNT kit, but in a color that can only be described as "rice-water stool"
