Hmmm, this thread is loading weirdly and doesn't want to let me see the last post I made, but we are up 2-0 in the best of 5 playoff, next 2 away, game 5 if needed back in Barca. Looks like we will be back in the final four: PLAYOFFS 2 wins, 0 losses 17 W, vs Unics 78 - 66 18 W, vs Unics 66 - 63 19 at Unics March 27 20 at Unics March 29 21 vs Unics April
So for anyone interested who is getting their hoops knowledge on the side here, Regal Barca are through to the Final Four, neutral site, single game win or die format. Barca play Olympiacos Piraeus and winner plays CSKA Moscow vs. Panathinaikos Athens winner. May 11 Semis, May 13 final. They are leading Real in La Liga (Endesa) but lost the CdR equivalent to Real. They did win the Supercup at the beginning of the season (beating Real and Laboral).
Not sure if anyone is reading these as I've posted the last 4 or so and done it over 2 months time but, if you are out there, we got upset in Istanbul, CSKA and Olympiacos doing the finals thing on Sunday. Sad result, weird format too, they play best of 5s to get to the final four and then one and done. That said, gotta love the drama of it and it is (usually) on a neutral court. http://www.euroleague.net/final-four/istanbul-2012/main-page
Man, I'm just talking to myself here but in a thrilling come from behind victory at home Barca beat Real Madrid in game one of the best of 5 Finals for the Endesa playoffs. Barca won the regular season and is the defending playoff champs but got their only lead of the 2nd half on their last shot of the game - a 3 pointer for a 81-80 win. They play again on Friday at home, game 5 back home on the 16th if needed. http://www.eurobasket.com/Spain/basketball.asp?NewsID=273834 Tw Pique: "Incredible!! Basketball is great!! Spectacular Navarro!! And what a three-pointer of Marcelinho on the buzzer!! Visca el Barça!!"
I'd love to see a video of the whole remuntada leading up to Marcelinho's buzzer-beater. Still can't find any...
Barca went on to lose Friday at home and then get blown out in Madrid in game 3 - 82-59. It is best of 5 so Madrid has game 4 at home, then game 5, if needed, in Barcelona, to eliminate Barca. Go Regal Barca and Thunder too.
Game 5 is for all the marbles now as Barca managed to level things in Madrid in game 4 despite coming off 2 straight defeats the last one by a big margin. Pride of a champion indeed: http://www.catalannewsagency.com/news/sports/real-madrid-vs-barç-regal-pride-champion-75-81
amazing atmosphere , low score but pretty exciting first quarter , seems the refs are making some decisions against us for some strange reason we lead 16-12
39-34 half time , seriously without those retarded refs we would be leading by more than 10 points .... hope the team can keep it up
leading 56-47 going into the final quarter , time to put everything into that and win it !!! crowd chanting and having a good time
its over !!! , the most exciting game i have seen with a thrilling last quarter , 73-69 final score Lorbek MVP
Here's a nice video of highlights, love that Lorbek got MVP as I am also a huge Michigan State hoops fan, really quite a rally to come back after barely winning the first game, losing at home in game 2, getting blown out in game 3, to turn it around and get games 4 and 5 is wonderful. Epic game in Spanish quarterfinals! We just beat LPB after a double overtime and advanced to the semifinals! http://acbtv.acb.com/video/5696-lac...-fc_barcelona_regal_se_lleva_un_partido_epico
They will now play Caja Laboral for a spot in the finals on Saturday also in Vittoria. Laboral have Nocioni (Bulls, Kings, Sixers) and Lampe (Knicks, Suns, Hornets, Rockets) among others. Finals played on Sunday.
The Euroleague quarterfinals started today with Barca Regal hosting Panathinaikos and winning 72-70, they play again in Barcelona on Thursday, then move to Greece for game 3 (and possibly 4). Game 5 in Barcelona if needed. The Final Four then is one and done at a neutral site (London this year). Other quarters are Maccabi-Real; CSKA Moscow - Caja Laboral Vitoria; and Olympiacos Piraeus - Anadolu Efes.
Well this stinks, Real already in the Euroleague final four while Barca is on the brink of elimination and needs to win in Greece to force a decisive game 5 back at home: http://sports.yahoo.com/news/basket...our-barcelona-fall-behind-212348391--nba.html All this after Barca went through the second round of Euroleague play with an almost perfect record - lost 1 of 16 IIRC.
Barca won the 4th game in Greece with their backs to the wall, now game 5 is set for Tuesday (same day as we play in Munich), winner goes to the Final Four (a 3 game tournament at a neutral site).
51-43 for Barca at end of 3rd quarter (just 10 minutes to go). Pana is 1-12 on 3 pointers or else it would be a much tighter game. http://www.rojadirecta.me/goto/zonasports.me/canal-2.php
May 10th is the semifinal against Real Madrid (Real favored), winner plays CSKA vs. Olympiakos winner (CSKA favored) on May 12, all played in London's O2 arena.
