Well this one finished scoreless. This was always going to be a challenge to get past Liverpool in this round, but all Ausgburg need to do is stay solid defensively and score just one at Anfield.
Dominik Kohr was MOTM https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/1...FA-Europa-League-2015-2016-Augsburg-Liverpool
Ralph Hasenhüttl of Ingolstadt being mentioned as a potential coaching candidate to replace Weinzierl if he leaves. http://www.bild.de/sport/fussball/fc-ingolstadt/hasenhuettl-wechsel-44601394.bild.html
Several players including Baier, Hong, Ji, and Trochowski are out injured and will miss the away match at Liverpool. Bobadilla might be ready, but is still a game time decision.
Shame they couldn't pull off the upset. But good effort nonetheless from Augsburg, keeping it relatively close till the end.
The winter signings are coming together nicely. Gouweleeuw as a defender is solid. And with the guidance of Weinzierl, Finnbogason is playing much more revitalized football and is able to contribute consistently again. Kohr has also matured into one of the most improved DM's in the league. He got some good revenge against his former youth club today.
Yeah, crazy ending to this one. Didn't think they had this in them at first. But Leverkusen scrapped their way back to a draw thanks to a late own goal and was awarded a hand ball penalty afterward.
... just had a light-bulb moment. Is this thread title a play on words with die Fuggerei? ..ha, a long time too.. @panicfc you're a genius!
Ahh, now we know where #Ranieri learnt his secret to success with @LCFC 😉 pic.twitter.com/p5aTDFAMXT— FC Augsburg (@FCA_World) May 4, 2016
Challenging season ahead for the Fuggers as Weinzierl is set to leave for Schalke. Darmstadt's Dirk Schuster is being mentioned as top candidate to replace him as head coach.
And it's official, Schuster signs a 3-year contract to be the new head coach of Augsburg. Offiziell: #Schuster kommt, Weinzierl geht!Herzlich willkommen beim #FCA, Dirk Schuster! https://t.co/1IDCxQ9msq pic.twitter.com/HrCA96x8kF— FC Augsburg (@FCAugsburg) June 2, 2016
Appears like Raul Bobadilla is close to finalizing a move to China for 8 Mio. Pretty nice profit on this guy who is now 29. Initially there was interest from Hull City, but there was a larger offer that came in later. Finnbogason is ready to take over the starting striker role full time next season. The youngster signed from Basel last winter, Albian Ajeti should also be given a chance. http://m.spox.com/de/sport/fussball...-bobadilla-vor-wechsel-china-fc-augsburg.html
