Which was yours? I remember after a particular match this season, saying on here that if we do a thread of this nature I had new #1. Thought I may as well do the thread myself now there's not much else going on. List your favourite, do a top 3, 5 or 10, post pics, vids......whatever. 3. Stunning counter attack. Macheda's goal without a doubt. I struggle to remember another goal we've scored that caused such a huge release of euphoria in me.(I missed Ole's winner in 99 as well as Giggs' goal against Arsenal)
Macheda's goal for me, it was a marvelous strike and a Brucie style moment that most likely changed our season.
Macheda. Take a bow son. Vidic against Sunderland. Cue crazy celebrations from Rio and Vidic. Ronaldo howitzer against Porto. Ronaldo + Rooney + Park against Porto. Berba (with a fifa street moment) + Ronaldo against West Ham. Berba volley vs Aalborg. (seems that all the good Berba moments were in the first half of the season) Giggs past one, past two, bottom corner vs West Ham. Tevez against Stoke. Fergie loves it. Cannot think of any good Rooney goals. Ronaldo fk against Bburn.
It has to be Macheda's goal against Villa for me, it has to be the season highlight, it brought so much excitement and tense, at a time where Liverpool must have been so happy, and the young Italian goes and produces a stunning winner. Others include: Ronaldo v Arsenal (3-0) and Ronaldo v Porto (1-0)
Macheda's goal against Villa, because it was a nice individual effort and really sent me wild Ronaldo's rocket against Porto. It was just fantastic: no one in the world would have saved that shot, and no one in the world could strike ball as well as he did. Giggsy's goal against West Ham, cause it meant that Ryan is still scoring in every Premier League season. A beautiful goal, btw. +1: a good Rooney goal: there were some, but my favourite is when he hit the ball between Cashley's legs Not the type of goal Wayne likes to score, but that means that the boy is improving this side of his game.
macheda against villa for two reasons: 1. importance 2. quality. top drawer turn and shot. What a goal !
Rooney vs Bolton was a good goal. Ronaldo was running beats his defender and plays a back heel to Rooney. Rooney dummies his defender and puts it in the far corner.
Aye, Kiko goal for me too - after the wobble of the Lpool & Fulham games was a season defining moment.
for me - since i was there - Ronaldo vs. Blackburn. man that was so awesome. runner-ups would be Kiko vs. Villa and Sunderland; Vidic vs. Sunderland; Tevez vs. Wigan; Rooney vs. City; Rooney vs. Bolton.
Definetly the goal vs arsenal (counter attack one) amzing skill, pace and teamwork from uniteds forwards. But the ronaldo goal vs porto surprised me the most. I MEAN WTF. the goalkeeper really should of got it. wasnt concentrating probably, smart from ronaldo to test him like that though. and test him he did.
Macehda's...without a doubt... my grandmother was buried the day of the liverpool game, and a friend of mine was buried the day of the fulham game, two HORRIBLE saturdays two weeks in a row...got both results by phone, and was just so ********ing annoyed...the long long weeks before another EPL game b/c of the INTL break or whatever...and that goal was just magic, i was in my office working on a project and watching the game, 1/2 watching it and trying not to lose faith in United & Life... Then SAF puts in two kids that were born when i was like 11 and i figured he was trying to rest people... The first attempt, loses the ball, brillaint little heal click, and the ball sails around Brad F. outstretched arm and hits the back of the net, i fell out of my office chair running in goofy excited stumble around my office...a guy that rents a room from me, who doens't understand soccer ran towards my office he thought i was having a seizure...even he understood the beauty once i rewatched it for the first of about honestly 50 times that day. Sorry that was long, but, what a ********ing goal.
No need to apologise for that. The reasoning behind why people liked a certain goal or a certain moment is just as interesting as their opinion on the goal itself. I tend to like the ones that elicited the biggest response from myself at the time over and above the ones that were most aesthetically pleasing. Within those it's also usually the goals that make go all 'hulk-like' with contorted face and yelling over above the ones that make me gleeful. It's the release of nerves, frustration, overcoming doubt, or whatever in that moment that does it for me. In footballing terms, that's more likely to be late winners, equalisers or ones where we take the lead over and above high quality 3rd, 4th or 5th goals in comfortable victories. When the two come together, and it's a quality finish like Macheda's as well as important then I find it's the best combo. I liked the Tevez one (my #2) for the drama of it all, but also because I had my dad over for Christmas. He'd been in hospital earlier last year and whilst it wasn't anything too serious, it made me think about him getting older and all that. Watched it with him and we shared a few drinks. Safe to say we both went mad when it went in and it helped to make a really enjoyable festive period. 07/08 I went for the Hargreaves free-kick against Arsenal as I went bananas when it went in and the season before was all about Scholes against Blackburn. Had access to a season ticket that year and just went off on one screaming and hugging random people in the stand. The fact we were one down and had lost Vidic to injury before half time really got the nerves jangling, wondering if our title campaign was starting to creak. When that hit the back of the net it was a top rush, a real 'We shall not be moved' moment if you like. Now who's droning on? Sorry to hear you went through a tough time during the season.
Since its fav goal of 08/09 can it be not manu? lol. JUST LETTING YOU KNOW I LITTERALLY CRIED WHEN INIESTA SCORED AGAINST CHELSEA. Against all odds the little man saved us. never forget that moment. if it wasnt for him, no treble. <3 I was screaming so loud, shaking and just couldnt believe what had happend. i was trying to text friends at school tellin them barca had scored but i just couldnt my fingers were shaking like god knows what. UNBELIEVABLE. sorry if its just united goals though lol.
1. Macheda vs. Villa 2. Ronaldo vs. Porto 3. Welbeck vs. Stoke 4. Berbatov vs. Bolton(A) Bunch of others through the season that were good, but those four were outstanding to me.
yeah... i'll never forgot that goal or my reaction that was a such a good day. --- what was the Berbatov goal vs. Bolton? i'm trying to remember that one.
Any goals are fine as long as they weren't against us. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ufBkAsBMBqg"]YouTube - berbatov Bolton W 0-1 Manchester U**-**Football & Soccer Highlights Videos & Live Scores Centre[/ame]
I think it was the last minute of regular time where Tevez received the ball just outside the area. Berbatov was open and he should've passed it to him immediately, but for some reason Tevez decided to run with the ball a bit more but then he put in a perfect cross and Berbatov headed it in with a diving header. EDIT: Or you could look at RoM's post.
does anyone have a video of all the season highlights and goals, its always hard to find those... I want to see all the 09 goals ...
