It is 90s, but speaking of David Lowery, there's always Camper Van Beethoven, and specifically their classic "Take the Skinheads Bowling". No list of 80s songs is complete without that.
Jeez, pretty much everything in my collection is from the 80s, so I don't even know where to start. Maybe I'll just say "IT'S THE FINAL COUNTDOWN!!!!" and leave it at that.
I'm choosing more with my heart then my head on these... ;-) A-ha, 'Take On Me': Laugh if you want, but this is probably my favorite song of all time. Listening to it just gets me in a good mood, and it's a great memory from my childhood. Also probably helped spark my love for electronic music. And it has a great video, though I never saw it at the time it came out (we didn't have MTV). Phil Collins, 'Invisible Touch': I'm not really big on Phil Collins, but, there's just something about this song I love. It's so high tempo and fun to sing along to. It's another great memory I have hearing this song on the radio when I was a kid. Beastie Boys, 'Fight for Your Right to Party' *Everyone* at my school knew the words to this. *Everyone*. Hell, even my mom knew of the song. ;-) And for my mom to know something from pop culture, well, that's saying something. ;-) -Adam
