I'm a newer referee and I've always been obsessed with watches so I have been using my new found referee hobby to purchased even more watches. I've used anything from lower/mid level timex's to gshocks to seiko's and everything in between. So far, even though it's way overkill for me, my favorite watch is the Spintso Referee Watch (http://www.refereestore.com/spintso-referee-watch-black-orange/). My favorite feature is the 10 second vibration reminder when you forget to restart the watch. I was wondering what other people use on this forum for time keeping. Thanks!
I'm not quite into the whole digital watch thing yet...maybe I will be at some point, but not now. Thanks!
Does anyone know of a watch that can count up from a time I set (say 40 or 45 min) so I don't have to calculate minutes in my head?
Watch the video on the link I posted in the first message. It has a count up / count down timer as well as a stoppage time counter. There isn't any reason to do any calculations with the Spintso watch.
Spintso does that. Resets overall game timer (counting up) to length of half when you start second half (also displays time left in current half, counting down). @MassachusettsRef @La Rikardo is there a TOS item on commercial advertising? Not that Hassan is off topic, and it looks like a slick product, but 2 posts that are both links to a site with a product for sale is allowed?
I've never used this one but I have thought about trying it out. It may be what you're looking for. https://www.proreferee.com/ultrak-510-soccer-referee-watch/
After experimenting with a few watches over the years, I have landed on the TIMEX Men's T498519J. It has 2 count down timers (normal and hydration) that can be set to vibrate plus a count up chronograph. I currently have 3 and my oldest one is just over 3 years old and still hasn't needed the battery changed on it yet. But the biggest thing I like about it is that it normally site between $25-40 on amazon so when I thought I lost my original when I moved, I easily replaced in 2 days before my next match.
Looks like a nice watch. I like vibrating watches as they're very discrete...especially when I'm an AR on the fans side.
Unfortunately I'd have to say you are doing just that. Your account was created today, your avatar is your company, and you have posted in two separate threads about your product.
Optimum Time. BIG numbers. And has the stop/start button on the front (rather than the side) so in Winter you can still easily start or stop with a gloved hand. OT251 You can get them from Official Sports, too.
Favorites in Order, these all have referee specific features with vibration: Spintso Casio RFT Adidas ADP 3076 And a few others that vibrate, some with ref specific features that only beep, I have about 8 total. So I usually wear the Spintso on my right wrist with my whistle. Left I wear the RFT. The Adidas sits in my bag in case one gives up the ghost.
Man, and people think I'm anal just for wearing two watches! (I use a Score watch with easy to read numbers that simply counts up as my "official" time and an RFT counting down that vibrates at full time as my back up and reminder. I hate beeping watches as a ref, so vibration will be the key factor for me when I have to replace the RFT, which sadly may be soon as the buttons are deteriorating. )
I always wear two watches too. Spintso on my right and a g shock ga100 on my left (or whatever fits the mood for the day) I wish I could find an rtf. It's a shame they don't make them any more.
They do, you just pay twice as much to get them imported from Japan. I know some people (I am one) who justify the cost. About 70-75 all day on Amazon. Look for the reputable sellers with Amazon fulfillment. Half the price (and size) of a Spintso, still a great watch.
I've thought about switching to a vibrating watch, but if you don't mind the beeping (which I've yet to have a player bother me about) and you might want to spend less for one reason or the other, I've been super happy with the Casio W756 (https://www.amazon.com/Casio-Mens-W756-1AVCR-Sport-Watch/dp/B0013M6BRA/); cheap enough that you don't feel guilty wearing two of them and really easy to manage during the game.
I've had several of the watches mentioned. Rft100- excellent ref functionality, vibrates, but not durable. Adidas adp3075- I really liked this watch, solid and worked well, vibrate, excellent ref function. Became useless when non-replaceable strap broke. Optimum- nothing really good about this watch except start and stop button on face. Preset only for 45 min timer- other times you have to set manually. No vibrate. case broke where strap pin goes in. Considered the spintso but at my age, size of numbers is getting to be an issue. So right now I am using a timex grid shock for ussf - vibrates and seems very durable, works just like the cheaper vibrate timex, but has a nice big screen with big numbers, and for high school (where beeping is fine), I have a timex ironman sleek 150, which also has really large face and buttons. Neither has referee specific functions. Both are $50-60.
Spintso is a great watch until it indicates that the batteries are ready to expire. So you replace them only to find that the "old" batteries are perfectly fine, but you replace them anyways with brand new, fully charged ones. These work for about 4-5 games then the replace the batteries warning comes on and the vibration feature is kaput. This on a watch just out of warranty! I plan on contacting spintso this week to see if they have a resolution for my problem. Anyone else encounter the same issue?
You can save 10 percent with coupon code mq10 for any products from the refereestore.com Harris will also give a small discount if you visit his store, you have to contact him directly though. With the exception of osi most store fronts you can negotiate a better price to get the sale. BTW
I got mine on sale too...I can't remember how much I exactly paid for it but it was in the low $100's. It was already on sale plus I have a few coupons from ordering other various items through there. I haven't had to change the battery yet but I've heard some horror stories about it
I have that watch too! It's a nice little watch and have it in my arsenal. I also have this one too...It's another Casio watch but this one will vibrate or beep depending how it's configured. http://www.target.com/p/men-s-casio...gclid=CKKoxLTOwM0CFQkNaQod5-MHgA&gclsrc=aw.ds
I wear a cheap Casio or Seiko on my right wrist to keep track of time. I wear an Adidas Smart Run on my left wrist to track heart rate, gps, and for backup game time. I love my Smart Run because I train with it, though the battery life is good for only about 3 matches. It has downloadable training routines, bluetooth connectivity for music, and it prompts me to run faster or slower when my heart rate doesn't match the training routine. It syncs with wifi and social media, and I can pull my raw data from the website into OpenGIS to create a "heat map" to see where I spend the most time during matches. It doesn't do most things that a referee watch should do, but that's why I wear my cheap watch.
