I took this week's MLSnet.com poll on "who's your favorite team in the East". Naturally, I voted for DCU, but the results made me sick. 9% of pearticipants voted for United, and the Fire lead with 41%. Hell, even the MetroTards have 20%. Come on, y'all, we have to represent!
The Polls proof beyond a shadow of a doubt the insanity of the American population! So what else is new. DC United forevermore!
ssshhhh. Don't tell anyone but I work for the US Census department and this poll was really just a top secret oppurtunity to get an exact figure on how many morons there really are in New Jersey. --It was kind of like the whole Lion King soundtrack thing... you would be amazed how people flock to that crap and it really gives the government an accurate head count
Being someone that is a Philly sports fan and the fact that Philly has no MLS club, it makes it hard for me to be a fan of any one particular club from another city (call me regionalistic). I consider myself a Major League Soccer fan (I watch any match that is on tv regardless of who's playing), BUT...if I HAD to pick a favorite, it would definately be the Black and Reds because of 1.) DC's close proximity to Philly; 2) I can't stand any team in any sport from NYC; 3) RFK is the only stadium that I've been to to see a MLS match in person, and it was great (eventhough DCU wasn't even playing--it was last summer's soaking All-Star Game). Additional reasons: From what I've noticed, DCU has the most passionate fans in MLS (and as a Philly fan, I know what it is to be a passionate fan, so I respect that!); DCU has the classiest uniforms in MLS; Bobby Convey is from Philly, and Ben Olsen is from Middletown, PA. By the way, I love it how after every (DCU) goal the Spanish-speaking cat comes on the P.A. blaring "GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLL, GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLL!" So there, NOT everyone hates you, DC. I like DCU as my "favorite," not only in the East, but also in MLS as a whole.
