My favorites: Galapagos Islands - go if you have an extra few thousand lying around (I got to do it for class!). Tortuguero, Costa Rica - One of the major nesting sites for sea turtles in the world, great food and people. Otovalo, Ecuador - an indian trading town outside of Quito, people are super friendly and you can take back some amazing things that are actually hand-made and wonderfully done.
