Yeah, sure. Maybe the drug addicted low lifes were sent to Vancouver but I see you kept the violent ones that like to shoot 10 year old girls in the head while they ride on public buses, women that like to slaughter their families with knives and gangs that like to drag highschool kids out of buildings and kill them, and thats just in under the last 2 weeks. Do we even need to go into the slayings and violence that go on every summer during carribean day festivals etc?

You are right it's not arrogance to be No. 1, and to be number one you have to be ranked by a third party. In various rankings done by people who know better than you and I what the criteria for what rates as the best cities in the world. Vancouver always at the top IN THE WORLD, sometimes even first, while Toronto lags way back.

Here's a ranking of top cities done in 2004 Vancouver is tied for first, Toronto is way back tied for 13th. A drop off of 9 spots from 2002. Must be all of that violence in Toronto. Also note that Montreal has jumped ahead of Toronto in the rankings:

    http://theage.com.au/articles/2004/02/06/1075854028808.html

Here's one from 2002 where Vancouer and Melbourne tied for #1 spot. Oh there's Toronto tied for 4th.

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/2299119.stm

Also the same ranking as reported by CNN:

    http://archives.cnn.com/2002/WORLD/europe/10/04/world.cities/#fulllist

So you are right. It is not arrogant to be No. 1. Thanks for offering me the invitation point out the fact that Vancouver is #1, not only in Canada but in the world. So now we know where jealousy is the #1 sport, right spanky?

Of course, the San Jose Earthquakes!

I have to second the thoughts on George Best. He had incredible skills.

No violence ever occurs in Vancouver? No murders no Bombings of airplanes killing 371 inocent people,if I am not mistakin the trial is on in Vancouver at this time for the plane bombings. no pig farmer serial killers. No violence is something that happens elsewhere.

Look back at all the posts .

Never did anyone attack the left coast. All attacks where in response to negative comments and smart ass remarks.

I asked about fav NASL team and what was your comeback We won in 79 and had more people at our parade than you had yours just recently.

Lets keep the talk on soccer and MLS in Toronto would be good for Soccer in Canada. If Vancouver is a better MLS choice they will get the team ahead of Toronto. MLS I am sure will pick the best canidates that are available.

Build a Stadium and get an owner in place . Then you will be in the running.

I have been to a number of Lynx games when the played at Varsity, now they are at a stadium that is way out of the way. The USL is not the
best soccer going, the MLS is and with no chance of a Canadian league
ever getting off the ground need the MLS and vice versa. The Blizzard
did get good crowds don't let krammerhead fool you,be he's from the west, not to be taken serious. You support your clubs? (laughing non

In an attempt to attract more people, the team has a "boost the Ravens playoff hopes" promotion for Friday. All women in attendance who wear a bustier will receive a ticket voucher for an upcoming game, be able to participate in a half-time fashion show and be eligible to win a trip to New York.

Sophisticated, this is VCR way of attracting crowds to pro sports.

As much as i like lacrosse the Ravens will die before the start of the season or during, like all other Vancouver teams they get little fan support is a
so called lacrosse hot bed. You look back at the people who should up for Canada's WCQ games, they showed little emotion or excitement, mind you a Frank Yallop coached team does tend to do that to people. Vancouver
a good sports town.......ha ha ha ha. they are pathetic

Were you at the games? Both games in my section were full of fans singing, chanting and stirring it up with the visiting supporters and both games had Canadian fans carted off by the cops. Thats passion, something you never see happening in Toronto, not even a Leafs games. You do however have your "suits" that decide to finally get to their seats halfway through the period and pretend to follow the games. Compare the crowds at Vancouver Whitecaps games to those at Lynx games. Says it all there. Vancouver has the best fans, Toronto fans (what fans there are) are pathetic. Keep trying though.

The fans once they leave their seats cannot go back to them until a stop in play at the ACC which is great, you have a bunch of morons going for a beer or whatever blocking your view while the games is going on. Canadian fans carted off by cops , Hooligans are nothing to be proud off, but thats the west coast for you they are all criminals out there.

Your section, how many of you make up a section 17? The fan turnout was pathetic for the WCQ in Vancouver this year. Very very sad. More reason why the new Stadium in Toronto is going to help bring the program back to respectability.
As for fans being cartred off by the cops, this is something to be proud of?

The suits who get to their seats late have still paid for the seats and yes they are blocked from getting to them untill the play ends. And as soon as it starts are blocked again untill play ends.

Funny how Leaf fans seem to make more noise in your building than your own fans even though leaf fans are out nunberd. If your listening onradio youcant tell who scores from the crowd noise. There was a strech of years when the few times VCR sold out was when Leafs came to town.
The other interesting thing about Leafs Canucks in VCR is there are more leaf Jerseys in the crowd than leafs.

No doubt you will dispute these facts cause you just cant cope with the truth. Fact is Canadians know the truth and you can dispute it till your green
    in the face.

Hahaha! Man you seem to want to make my point. Lets set some things straight.

First the WCQ's in Vancouver. The first game sold out and people were left outside the stadium, some even sitting it trees, trying to watch the game. We can't help the size of the stadium, which incidentally, isn't even in Vancouver. The second game was short of a sellout due to no media interest as the game was almost meaningless. Just like when Toronto could only get 5,000 against MEXICO last qualifying when the game was meaningless. At least I can say without a doubt, if the last game a Swangard was against an opponent such as Mexico it would have sold out. Try actually looking at crowd sizes for past WCQ's in Toronto. Nothing to brag about. If you actually had any fan interest in soccer you wouldn't be without a stadium right now. Ever think of that?

Are fans being carted off by cops something to be proud about? Yes. You had to be there but the only thing the fans were being carted off for was making noise, leading chants, and not backing down when opposing fans hurled abuse and garbage. The fact is that we care enough supporting our country that these situations happened. We do a lot more than the Toronto style hockey chants "here we go Canada, here we go" every 10 minutes.

Ah, the Leaf fans in Vancouver. Why are there so many? Because Torontonians flee that crappy city to come live in the best one in the world at an alarmingly high rate. Hell they are at every arena during Leafs games. Seems that every NHL city has Toronto refugees. You are saying that Toronto is so great but it seems everybody wants to leave it! The fact that ex-Toronto people attend a hockey game in Vancouver once a year and make noise only proves that they like to let everyone know where they escaped from. It hardly proves the type of "fan" they are. It's probably the only time they go to a sporting event all year. You won't find Vancouverites in Toronto when Vancouver comes to play because, well, who'd want to live in Toronto? Won't go into your crowd noise example because it is a blantant lie, which makes you look bad. Nothing like a blatant lie to taint anything you say, talk about not being able to handle the truth. I think you were trying to say that there are more Leafs jerseys in the crowd than Vanocuver ones at Vancouver games (but you screwed that up). Seems to me that you are living in the past. We aren't in the 70's anymore, the Canucks are no longer new. Try moving past that decade, it seems all your comments seem to be based on that era. You won't find more Leafs jerseys at Toronto game in Vancouver than you will Vancouver jerseys. In the last decade Vancouver jerseys have flooded off the shelves. If you weren't stuck in the 70's you'd know that.

Don't know where you are going with your "suits" reasoning. The fact is, during any televised Leafs game the fans at home see nothing but empty seats on the side of the arena the cameras focus on for the first 7 minutes of the game. I don't know about you but a real fan paying that kind of money for the best seats in the house will actually bein them them for the opening face off.

Getting back to the Lacrosse and CFL comments here's something to consider, Vancovuer is a hotbed for Lacrosse. PLAYING it that is. Box Lacrosse as a spectator sport has always been a SUMMER sport here, played in small junior hockey arenas in front of crowds of hundreds to a few thousand per game. It's never been more than that as a spectator sport. Just because a winter league springs up playing out of NHL arenas doesn't mean the people here are going to flock to it. We don't have to. We aren't in a deep freeze in the winter we need no excuse to go into an arena to watch a silly league (which the NLL is with their blaring music going on during play and silly gimmicks). We actually stay outdoors during winter, unlike Toronto. In Toronto you couldput a piece of dog crap on a stick, place it in the center of Air Canada place in a Toronto team jersey and 15,000 people would flock to see it, just for something to do and to stay warm. Big deal.

The Lions don't sell out BC Place. So what. CFL football in Vancouver is like any other CFL city. Before BC Place they got crowds from 20,000-25,000 a game at empire stadium, similar to crowds at all other CFL stadiums. Crowds haven't changed it the last 20 years, the only thing that has changed is the size of the stadium. The stadium was built for the occasional times that required a huge capacity, not so that it would be filled for each Lions game. Ridiculing Vancouverites because they don't fill the stadium is ridiculous. The CFL always averages crowds of 20-25K. Lions averaged over 27,000 last season, 4th overall in the league. Ridiculing that number because the stadium seats 60,000 is as ridiculous as those that praise the Alouettes for selling out every game whoch is easy to do if your stadium only seats 20K.

Actually it was 6564, not that it makes much of a difference. :)

Also, the count would have been higher if a few thousand fans didn't fall through the decaying seats at Varsity. bah
