Lets get away from this Coronavirus bullshit for a minute. Lets talk about our favorite moments in MLS history ...

... but there is a catch.

your moment can NOT be about the team you support. So for me SKC and the Timbers are off limits.

one of my favorite moments was Cameron Porters goal against Pachuca in the CCL.

it was just so sudden and out of nowhere and an amazing moment for Montreal and the CCL competition in general.

Ha ha. With that caveat . . .

MLS Cup 2010 in Toronto (my team shoulda been there, oh so close). Fun long weekend, back when the final was the league-wide celebration.

For me it was being able to sit down in front of my TV and watch the inaugural MLS match DC United at San Jose. The internet back then wasn't what it is now. Most of my soccer info I got from reading Soccer America in those days.

Regardless of what you think of the man you have to include Zlatan's debut. That match made for spectacular viewing and embodies a lot of what we hope to see for MLS across the board and across the calendar.

Any and every match that features a full and boisterous crowd and quality on the pitch that can draw the layman in is something I always take time to appreciate, regardless of who's playing. Those moments for me are like college football Saturdays where you just want to soak it all in.

Portland's debut with their supporters singing the national anthem.

Clint Mathis hangs 5 goals on Dallas in 2000 at old Cotton Bowl Stadium.

I will also say that the first ever season, Opening Day as mentioned earlier, DCU at San Jose, to have a Division I league again was a terrific memory! And that incredible first ever MLS Cup Final which L.A. Galaxy in their eight colors jersey had it but D.C. came back against the elements and found a way to win. Great viewing as a neutral!

    too difficult to pick one...

I guess one of the most remembered for me was the first time Beckam played in New York in front of a almost sold out giants stadium

It was a 5-4 Game with Angel proving he was the better DP at the time :p

Roy Miller taking (and missing) the free kick at the end of the Red Bulls playoff game against DC United.

After all the controversy about which stadium the game should be played in, the snow issues, and with just seconds on the clock, and Thierry Henry standing over the ball while the announcer extols Henry's accomplishments.....

I think back to the first season, with all the excitement of finally having a league of our own. The inaugural match, the All-Star Game, and MLS Cup from year one are among my most treasured memories. There have been many others since, but when I reflect on favorite memories, I always go back to that first year.

I'll pick MLS Cup 2000, KC over Chicago in RFK Stadium. The first of 11 MLS Cups I attended, great crowd, and I enjoyed that KC team all year despite everyone complaining about how it was so defensive. Honorable mention to MLS Cup 2009, RSL over LA by PKs in Seattle.

For something I didn't attend, maybe the Portland-KC playoff game in 2015 with the crazy PK shootout. Or the Toronto-Montreal 12-goal Eastern Conference final series in 2016.

The TFC-Montreal Playoff series in 2016. That was just fun to watch as a neutral.

    Honorable Mentions

Why: 1) He went all in and 2) His teammates did not notice nor care

Haven't followed the league as long as some of you have but for me it was the moment Zlatan was subbed in the game vs LAFC. What a game that first Trafico was and what a comeback!

My favorite MLS game attended is when Ben Olsen came back from injury. The crowd was electric and the game was super emotional.

This random little gem from 2011 - GK David Bingham (Quakes) gave new meaning to the term "goal kick" when he actually scored on the opposing GK thanks to a well-placed bounce.

That would be Joe Nasco, which was probably the highlight of his career.

This isn't MLS, but a couple of decades people might not know the difference.

DC United at Crew Inaugural Match in 1996 at the Shoe. I drove down from Toronto with a couple buddies (7 hours). McBride was unbelievable and Harkes too. After we met up with some DC supporters (Screaming Eagles) at Tony Roma's and watched the Galaxy home opener.

I thought finally a US/Cdn league that will survive and thrive.
