This guy (if he is real) is a collection receptacle for all quality Tea Party stuff...and Lone Star Steakhouse. https://www.facebook.com/cparksgo1
This is a go-to laugh a thon: https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Conservative-Hammer/206783309358337?fref=ts I remember Obama was lambasted on Friday for "faking his tears" on the above site. https://www.facebook.com/TPImmigrationCoalition?fref=ts
That's got to be the scariest site listed so far. The amount of pure stupidity posted, along with the comments, is astounding. Did you know that wikipedia is a left wing anti-religious organization started and ran by militant atheists? Or that snopes is very far left?
By their standards they are, it's all a matter of your starting point. And I didn't know until glancing at these pages that there are conspiracy theories popping up regarding the recent shooting (and also the Colorado one) saying that there actually was more than one gunman and that there's more that we're not being told. And their reasoning? The left-wing media changed their story over time. Do they not realize the media's just about always wrong in its initial reports about just about anything?
To me, these people are past scary, and into pat-them-on-the-head land. Unless they are armed and angry, of course.
I'm lucky, nobody on my friends list is crazy enough to follow them... I suspect some may be, they just haven't found them yet.
I have a very conservative born-again Christian uncle, retired firefighter and great guy, barely ever posted on Facebook, and I missed him. Then suddenly a few weeks ago he started posting regularly. Now I miss missing him.
I know I should just "hide" people, but in the wake of the CT shootings I've unfriended a few people. Mostly just people from my hometown who just friended me because [x] number of mutual friends. I wish them well, but I lost touch with them 20-odd years ago, and we can continue not being in touch for the forseeable future without a problem. I have used the "hide" feature for a couple of cousins, though.
I have all my right-wing friends on hide right now. Will probably un-hide them when the Newtown thing dies down again. And then rinse and repeat once the next horrific gun rampage happens.
I've found some unexpected reactions among my friends. Like there's a guy I went to grade school with who's now a white Rasta surfer dude living in Hawaii, always railing about Babylon and weed and so on, and turns out he's rabidly pro-gun, was quite the WTF. But then he sounds a little like y-lee-coyote, thinks the evil government is coming for us all and wants to defend his family. If he's right good luck with that one....
I have a guy like that in my friends list... gnarly old rocker dude who knows absolutely everything about guitars. I used to fight like cats and dogs with him, mostly about gun rights, but also about the War on Terror, at a metal forum. And then he got back together with his liberal high school sweetheart and went full Occupy Wall Street. Absolutely despises the GOP and the 1 percent ... and yet he's still a massive gun rights guy. So when a horrible gun massacre occurs every couple of months I hide him preemptively so I won't be able to comment on his gun lobby propaganda posts. Because I know damned well I won't be able to resist. Not worth losing a "friend" over a single issue when I agree with him on everything else.
https://www.facebook.com/NoTeaParty Has great hits like this spectacular oratory by a crazed lunatic in Orlando. She was speaking in opposition of a recent Orange County School Board proposal to protect LGBT students and teachers from discrimination. There are references to the UN, to Africa, her point....who the f knows. Turn up the audio and turn down your IQ.
