Although I have heard he's lost a little bit of his step, I'd still have to go with Agoos. No question.
I second that vote. Oscar Ruggieri called him the fastest player in the world, in his opinion, a couple of seasons ago.
Straight line speed it has to be Roberto Carlos. With the ball at his feet I'd go with Thierry Henry or Michael Owen.
Alto Bolden.... the second fastest man in the world happened to be a soccer player before he became a tract star.
It really depends on the distance. In football you never have to run 100 metres, its all short sprints. Darius vassell has got absolutely incredible acceleration but once Thierry Henry gets his legs in order he is rapid.
Dennis Rommedahl is the fastest player Ive ever seen. Ive heard he sprints 100 meters in a bit more than 10 seconds.
Fastest I would have to say its either Darius Vassell or Roberto Carlos, I've heard that they can both run the hundred metres in around 10 seconds which ain't far off olympic sprint times, they'd probably beat some of the sprinters from these remote far out countries that enter the olympics every year.
I'll probably get reamed for this...but back when he played for Barca, Ronaldo was by far the quickest and speediest player on the pitch.
Kieron Dyer has the quickest turn of pace I've ever seen, but I don't think he would be the fastest over 100 metres. Stan Mortensen was reputed to be the fastest English player over 10 yards. Rommedahl and Henry would get my vote over a longer distance.
Rommedahl was by far the fastest player at the world cup and I agree completely, but maybe it would be better to break this down into some sub-categories: -ball at feet - I go with thierry Henry -all open sprint - Rommedahl, Carlos - quickest player - Davids is prob the quickest, but that kidd D'Allesandro from Argentina is a ball of fire when it comes to quickness.. -slowest player - Agoos
