I've seen that done quite a few times. That one was certainly hit with a bit of venom though. Women still shouldn't play football. ;)

What's up with the goalkeepers in women's soccer? They almost always seem to be comically inept.

Female goalkeepers are too short and hence are less likely to move further forward from the goal-line. It is always advise to any goalkeeper (male/female) to stay on the line during kick off or direct free kicks cause you have no time to get back on a good struck kick. Females have less muscle development in specific unmentionable places and so have slower pace stretch to reach further out of the body.

However that kick was very impressive for a female to do that distance. Very rarely you see that done by a female. Even some males can't do that well enough.

you don't need a page long explanation for everything you post...

anyway, rivelino was said to have done the same thing while the opposing keeper was finishing his pre-game prayer.

as you can't score straight from a kick off the other player must have passed it backwards.the ball has to go forward from a kick off.
    so..that ain't a goal!

The rule was changed at some point in the 90s I think.

i stand corrected! i've only played football for 34 years ,they should let me know all these rule changes so i don't make a fool of myself.next you'll be telling me you can't be offside from a goal kick.

    the ball must go forward.

it's also hard to tell if it did with the angle given.

considering it's college level, either a.) it was kicked forward slightly out of habit or b.) the ref doesn't want to make such a menial call.

There is some movement around the ball, but it's the other player moving away from the ball. The ball itself was stationary prior to the kick off. It's a legal goal.

Either way the goalie touched it before it went in so it would have been a goal.

In all fairness to the "goalkeepress", it is hard to jump up and catch a ball while walking (running) backwards.

doesn't matter if the ball was stationary. it's if it moved forward first.

    doesn't matter.

the ball just has to go forward.

that's only if you want to be nitpicky, though. it's not really something i would worry about watching.

Agreed. I was only answering what I interpreted as a raised question concerning possible movement backwards due to poor video imagery.:)

The fastest goal is by Ricardo Olivera (uruguay) and scored it in 2.8 second while playing for rio negro against soriano in 26 september 1998.

Check: guiness world records 2004 pg. 207
