I'm surprised that someone like him was at a crap Serie A team like Atalanta and a player like Pedro Troglio was at a decent team like Lazio.
I dunno if it's pure speed, or quickness and acceleration, but messi is like trying to catch a hummingbird, the way he turns
Caniggia is a definate on this list. In fact, there are many similiarities between him and Palacio. They both have a fast, agile pace. They always seem able to be one-step ahead of their opponent. They can play both wings without any problem. They are equally able to make a great pass or finish.
- Pre-Injury Ronaldo, like every one says. He was fast from the first step. Now it takes 3-4 steps for him to pick up speed, and then he can't turn as fast anymore. - I don't like C. Ronaldo in this pick, seriously, he looks fast but he just doesn't blow by people. - Giggs was fast from the highlights I have seen. - Romario was very fast in his day. - Messi and Robben are very promising. - Cobi Jones ... just kidding, I couldn't resist.
I'd say Pele. I just purchased the History of Soccer videos and popped in disk 5. The combination of raw speed and agility that he shows is phenomenal. For all that I heard about Pele as a player, I realized how little I had actually seen of him. What I had seen was his finishing. The cutbacks, the acceleration, and the speed he shows in that footage will blow you away. I'd also never seen Garrincha, and he was an amazing dribbler too. In the modern era I'd say Giggs and Messi take the cake.
George Weah, especially in his early days at Milan, was a very fast dribbler. Check this out. (not very good quality video, but what an amazing goal!) http://www2.raisport.rai.it/mcalcio/967a/r01a/003411.mov
What type of player? A soccer player or one that has the ability to make the opposite sex interested in her?
I don't think Quincy is a very good dribbler, however his speed is absolutely amazing. Can someone cleary define the difference between speed, quickness, and acceleration, and ball control for Robben, C Ronaldo, Joaquin, Vicente, Ronaldinho, and Jefferson Farfan? Thanks
For being in complete control of the ball and dribbling at pace I can't think of anyone quicker than a young Ronaldo either. Giggs would be my number 2. Cannigia was one of my favourites too but I always saw him as more of one who would kick the ball 10-15 yards in front of himself and then use his pace to get past his opponent. I'm not saying he wasn't in complete control of the ball just less close control than Ronaldo if that makes sense? Kind of like Rommedahl but much better. If we're including players like this then I'll put forward Serginho and Kanchelskis as honorable mentions.
