Faria is a weapon for the Metros like a plastic spoon is a weapon for the marines.

There were too many times he's missed an easy shot, couldn't run to connect on a what-could-have-been a great assist, got beat by a mediocre defender, didn't pass to a more open player, and spent too much time arguing with the refs (is there a shrink in the house, OZ?).

With the exception of scoring on Hernandez's bad pass during the last game (which was sweet), the only opportunities he ever creates is when he takes a dive in the box. Almost all his goals could have been scored by anyone else receiving the same passes. Am I the only one who's watched a game and said "There's a good pass.., it's going to Faria.., and he misses".

How many times has he been the bum on metrofanatic.com? How many times has he been the hero?

    Dump him!

1st of all, it was a Villegas bad pass he scored on in the last DC game. 2nd, as someone else on here said not too long ago, find me another player who's young, durable (ie: never gets injured) and plays for 60k that will score 14 goals and a handful of assists for this team. Drawing a blank? I thought so.

And again, let's not forget that the guy is making $40 grand. Who else are you going to get at that money? Hey, I want to bi*ch slap the kid every time I see him whining, but as of today he is valuable to the Metros because he is so cheap.

Again, it's the obligatory "Faria Sucks" thread.

This is a record though....the last post was 10 days ago.

Michael Owen has missed to PK's this year so far. As a Liverpool fan I hope they sell that worthless bum ASAP.

I get your drift...but, please try and refrain from using Michael Owen as a comparison to Faria ever again......

Faria: 12 goals, helathy, hustles, makes $40,000. Happy to be in MLS.

Mathis: 4 goals, tears hs ACL regularly, makes more than faria, has wet dreams about playing abrod, stopped hustling in 2002.

Lay of the kid. He misses some sitters, but he's better than most.

The question shouldn't be, who else can we do better for $60 K. Right now, the cap shouldn't be the concern, we need to focus on getting soem good creative players. It goes beyond stats my friends, Faria is becoming a primadonna and that someone we don't need. Whereas Andy Williams racks up great numbers, he keeps his mouth shut and doesn't lash out like Faria at times does. That alone is not good for the team, let alone his frequent misses.

Faria is cheap, but he's cheap for a reason.

But since he's only $50k -$60k next season, we should keep him.

He's hard running, but only on the defensive side, he's good with headers, and he doesn't get injured. But he can't finish, he can't create chances even after getting the ball in the box, he dribbles himself into trouble instead of shooting, and whines too much.

But one thing I noticed is he¡¯s a great tackler. He can tackle like a defender, good timing and straight for the ball. However, his positioning is horrible, at least on offense.

I don¡¯t mind him playing as a defensive midfielder, but only he is capable.

    Reason enough to keep him.

It is horrible how he misses sitters. Hopefully he will overcome it, it's a composure/confidence issue. Maybe he needs to see a sports psychologist -- just kidding. Sometimes he made you wish that he had less time to think about how to finish and would just do it reflexively. I think he has more potential than Savarese because Faria is quicker and is more than a pure poacher. He has Savarese's nose for goal and while he missed some sitters, he was in the right position to have them and that's a forward's job.

OZ had the option of trying to pair Mathis with either Diallo or Faria but he resorted to using Clint in the midfield. We really don't know for sure how Clint and Faria might have meshed as a striking team. Of course, Diallo and any other striker is a problem because of Diallo's "it's all about me" attitude. He really thinks that his striking partner is the equivalent of the "straight man" in a comedy duo, there only to make the man with the punchline look good.

We have to keep Faria. Simply no other option. He's scored 8, then 12 goals. If he scores 16 next year for 50k a year- do you still want to chuck him? If nothing else, draft a striker and use Faria as a backup. Mathis is anything but durable, and it won't hurt to have a guy like Faria around. It's not like he's Diallo or Valencia and he's going to scream about it. Think about the "strikers" we have on our bench at the moment. Klinger. Alvarez. If you were tied in a game in the 75th minute and needed a goal, would you rather pull off one of them off the bench, or Faria?

I say keep him...yeah, I say a lot of trash about him, but if we keep him he won't follow like most former Metros and become stars and often score against us

With a plastic spoon, a marine can take out your heart. From 50 paces. Was that your analogy?

Faria appears to have a touch of Knoblauch's Syndrome: he muffs any attempt he has time to think about. Other than the pk's almost of his goals this year came when he didn't have time to think about what he wanted to do.

    The answer to your question:

Young, durable, scores 15+ goals a year and makes less then 50K.

That's more than a little disingenuous. Twellman came into this league on that low salary, but if he isn't making 3 times what Faria is come next year, he'll be out of the league.

Please say you are joking. The guy is great in the air, but a complete mess on the ball. Worst possession player on the team. and that's saying something when Jeff Moore is playing. The guy should come off the bench in the last 20 minutes at forward, or a pressing left half when they need a goal.

Keep him as third forward on team or first off the bench to give energy. Can not count on him to be guy we rely on as too inconsistent and can not finish. Nice guy, hustles, makes little, but can not finish. Knaublach syndrome is pretty close in terms of describing his problem.

Definitely. He'll be making the max very soon.

How much is Buddle making? Buddle played as well on a per-minute basis and I'll bet will do as well in the playoffs.

Exactly. And he shouldn't have to be our # 1 forward. Mathis should be. If Mathis can't do the job, it's not Faria's fault.

Metro went out and tried to get another forward that would be the #1 in Mathis's absence. First Serna, then Diallo.

If, at the end of the day, if Faria is the #1 forward, it's simply because everyone else failed to do their job up front. To be fair, Diallo did score some goals.

Faria just has to do what he has done the past season and a half, though of course I'd like him to convert a few more gimmees. What we need is Mathis to re-establish himself as #1, and make sure our midfield does an adequate job in support.

Faria, hopefully, will grow up and produce even more, but I like the comment about not letting him go or he'll turn out to be a star someplace else--how true. Oz et. al. pampered idiots like Diallo instead of trying new chemistry between Mathis and Faria. I think it could have worked and there were glimpses of it in several games where Diallo and his selfish ways sat out where he belonged.

Faria's whining needs to stop, but let's face it, Mathis could have kept his mouth shut and feet focused more toward what he does best too. Diallo should just shutup and go away.

Faria on the bench with some other forward and Mathis--maybe or try the Faria/Mathis combo, but Faria gone from the Metrostars--not a smart move.
