    Faria is in camp!

    Faria Joins “Men in Red”
Offseason acquisition and senior international Rodrigo Faria today reported to the Fire's training camp in San Jose. The Brazilian forward - who was acquired from the MetroStars in October as compensation for the loss of former Fire Head Coach Bob Bradley- spent most of the offseason in his native country attending to personal matters. Faria’s return to the United States was delayed while he waited for the processing of his visa. According to Fire Head Coach Dave Sarachan, the 26-year-old Faria is expected to take part in the team’s training session this afternoon at Santa Clara University.

The question is, what kind of shape is he in? It may take a while for him to get used to his teammates as well.

He's in fine shape and he'll be fine to play 90 minutes at the start of the season.....as for teammates there is no reason he should have a problem...he got along with everybody in new york and im sure it will be the same in chicago

    Xande,

I know you're a buddy of his, so let him know we are unhappy to see Bob leave but very excited to see Rodrigo suiting up for the Fire. I always liked watching him in NY, and now Chicago finally has a player that is good in the air.

From what I saw in NJ/NY, he has Razov syndrome. He somehow gets 2-3 times the number of scoring chances that regular strikers do. This means that he will miss some sitters, but he'll also score a bunch of goals.

He'll be a much better prescence for the Fire than Mr. Invisible Wolff.

The fire were only willing to part with Bradley for high price and I'm sure Rodrigo is gonna prove his value. I like Sarachan and I think it was a good deal. I'm sure Rodrigo and Beasley are going to cause some defenses trouble with their speed. I can't wait to see the 4 games against the Metrostars....for all they told him about how important he was to the future of that club, being the first player to come up from the reserve team...I'm sure he will make them regret getting rid of him.....and I'm certain that he'll wear the fire jersey with pride and work hard to please all the fans

no, just saying that based on the fact that he had no open problems with any particular person in the club, from what i observed, and since nothing related to this ever came up in the media...

With Rodrigo and Razov up front, does anyone think that we will do better this year than all the critics are saying? I would love to believe that we aren't going to miss the play-offs.

well, i think most of the critics have picked us to make the playoffs, most of BS has us as being horrible

and i think that razov and faria will rock

They'll do fine, when they aren't pummelling each other's brains out.

But sometimes difficult personalities work tremendously together on the field and are irreconcilable off it. If they can keep control of their emotions and not fight on a daily basis, yeah, they'll do well.

I saw Faria about 3 weeks ago on a Brazilian sports show where they featured him as "A Brazilian in foreign soil trying to make a living". They showed clips of him playing in Brazil in what seemed to be orgazined 7v7 type games. He was running full force (yelling and kicking posts as usual - You will know what I mean when you see it) so Im sure he played alot down there and will be ready for the Fire.

He also said that his goal is to make it to the World Cup...wearing an American Jersey.

Funny, I saw the same show but dont remember him kicking any posts or doing any yelling. Especially since they only showed the video of the games, not the audio. But he was putting the same hard effort into the game that he puts into his real games.
