I apologize in advance if this has already been asked/answered...

...what's the deal with Chacon? I put him on my team Day One, but have got nothing out of him. Is he ever going to play? hurt? in the dog house? what?

    Thanks.

He has been hurt - I think a back injury.

In a radio interview at the start of the season, Sigi made a passing reference to "conditioning issues."

We saw him play once this year, in the Champions Cup game in Fullerton, and he looked slow and relatively ineffective, although he showed good skills when he did have the ball and he hit a "Bend it Like Beckham" free kick to score the only LAG goal against Necaxa.

I guess we have our fingers crossed and don't really know what to expect realistically.

He started in and played most of the Dallas game as well. My guess is that his style (poacher) at forward is too similar to that of Ruiz and that he is hasn't reached the match fitness level to be effective in the midfield.

The other thing to keep in mind is that for a long road stand like this if a player isn't 100% it's smarter not to have them make the trip.

I think he misses Ray Hudson. He is his personal advisor

Thanks, Gooner - I forgot the Dallas game.

I think you hit the nail on the head. In APC's best season he was a poacher who played close to the goal. We already have one of those! This is not something management did not know when they went out and got him. Sooooo - can we play with two poachers? Can Sigi teach an old dog new midfield tricks? I wish I understood what the thinking on this was.

Which is not to say I am down on APC. I just don't understand how Sigi plans to use him.

This is where we get to see how creative and effective a coach Sigi can be. Two of the best sweepers in the League and two of the best poachers with a lot of issues in the space in between. A good coach should be able to find a way to put his best players on the field.

They funny thing is, way back when I was a kid, guys who waited around the box in order to 'poach' a goal were given grief and called 'goal hangers'. I guess the theory was that they did nothing else but look for glory (scoring) and didn't create anything.

Not sure what this has to do with the topic but I'm bored at work today.

    Pigs Eye (St. Paul),
I had him and dropped him a couple of weeks ago. You can always pick him up later if he starts playing regularly and well. I picked up Amado Guevarra for 10 pts less and 0 transfer fee. He's up to 23 now but still might be a good buy. I also think Francisco Gomez is a good buy, except he got injured.
