The China star has moved to Cardiff City, innitially for the rest of the season I believe that is if he passes a medical. City set to sign World Cup star: http://www.cardiffcityfc.co.uk/today/view/breaking_news_detail/0,,10335~300275,00.html What Fan said: http://www.cardiffcityfc.co.uk/today/view/breaking_news_detail/0,,10335~300353,00.html
Good on him. Maybe Cardiff will be promoted to primier league next season... How do these Chinese players goto overseas so much so quickly???? I mean, look at slow pace of transfer of Korean players... Is this justified? I don't think so. Maybe, in terms of financial gain to the club, but not in terms of talent.
I doubt Fan will stay long enough for them to reach the EPL. He's getting old, but he can still help Cardiff reach div one, after that it's anyone's guess.
Re: Re: Fan Zhiyi moves to Cardiff Wow, leelo is back, what a surprise! How the heck can a Div 2 team gets promoted to EPL directly? Hopefully they will be promoted to Div 1 next season. If you talking about Fan particularly, he has been playing in England/Scotland for a long time. He has plenty of the Div 1 experiences. It shouldn't be a big surprise that Cardiff signed him. WTF? So you are basically saying that Chinese players have no talents. Just take a look at Sunny and Li, who have been started every single game so far this season. Anyway, Fan was the best defender for Crystal Palace. He could use his experiences to help Cardiff.
Don't over react. Fan wants to play in England. I doubt many Korean players want to play in second div in England because the K league is much better. It has little to do with talent.
Is fan really that ambitious or is he talking through his **************. As if a club like cardiff will rocket straight from div 2 to the premiership in 2 seasons. When he went to Dundee he said his aim was to take dundee to Champions league. I'm sure he's saying this stuff, tougue in cheek.
I'm sure Fan is an excellent player and he will work as hard as he can in Cardiff. Good luck on him. And I never said "chinese players have no talent", as you'd stated. Please do not misunderstand.
Fan earned an reputation in England. It will be easier for him to find a club. It's just sad that he never did make it to the EPL.
Dont count Cardiff out. They have preperations for a new 30,000 stadium, which would go to 60,000 if they reach the Premiership. They have a squad which costs well over £10,000,000. Hot favourites for the division 2 title and several international players in the squad.
Re: Re: Fan Zhiyi moves to Cardiff Doesn't Wales have a football league, and if so, why is Cardiff in the English FA?
Re: Re: Re: Fan Zhiyi moves to Cardiff I believe they have four teams in the English league. Anyway, Fan has now gone to England Scotland and now wales, he only has ireland to go. His English accent would probably be a mix of Chinese, english, scottish and welsh.
Re: Re: Re: Fan Zhiyi moves to Cardiff Wales does have a league, but it's only been in its current form since 1992. There's actually three teams based in Wales that play in the English league. Cardiff plays in the Second Division and both Wrexham and Swansea City play in the Third Division. There might be more, but that's all I could think of off the top of my head.
Fan Zhiyi completed his move to Cardiff today. When the football league was first formed, clubs throughout the UK were invited to join. The Scottish clubs declined the invitation whilst the Welsh clubs took up the offer as there was no Welsh League at the time. When the League of Wales was formed it was clear that the Welsh clubs in the English pyramid system were well established and any move to bring them into the League of Wales (which was acknowledged to be of a lesser standard) would be detrimental to them. Since the League of Wales was formed we are no longer allowed to qualify for European competition through the Welsh system as we do not play in it. However should we qualify through the English system we would be allowed to participate as representatives of that system. Wales is a part of the UK and enjoys the common benefits of it's membership. Any effort to exclude us from the English Football system would have legal ramifications for the UK. Think before you write and include your reasoning. Abuse displays more about the person posting than the point he is trying to make. The whole issue of separate Football Associations within the UK is a dodgy one in world football. By rocking the boat you might even instigate the demise of the English FA which may well be replaced by a British FA. Think before you wish to vent your feelings. 5 teams I can think of are Cardiff, Wrexham, Swansea, Newport and Methyr. There might be one more as well though.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Fan Zhiyi moves to Cardiff doubt it. it will still be broken english with a chinese accent.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Fan Zhiyi moves to Cardiff When I was in college I was introduced to a Viet Namese girl. Imagine the shock on my face when she spoke with a Welsh accent (she grew up in Cardiff). Thanks for the info on Welsh football by the way guys. Perhaps we should all pay more attention after their stunning defeat of Italy last month.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Fan Zhiyi moves to Cardiff The Red Dragons are for real!!! Now watch as they lose to Azerbaijan....
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Fan Zhiyi moves to Cardiff There is a difference, though it might be hard to pick up for a non-North American. If I am speaking to a Canadian, I can usually tell it from their vowel sounds (in some cases they are a little different from ours, a cross of American and English perhaps.)
Settle down dude. I don't think Ludahai was "venting abusive feelings". He was just asking a question.
Take a chill here for a second. I asked a question, that is all. I don't following British football all that much and I was merely curious about the status of Wales and Welsh teams. I didn't know there were Welsh teams in the English FA nor did I know there was a Welsh League. It is not unprecedented to have teams on the outside in your league (Monaco in the French League for instance).
New Zealand has a team in the Australian top flight. Luxemborg has a team in the Swiss pro leagues (can't remember which level). Canada has 4 teams in the US 2nd division.
