Over there, ATL, Send the word, send the word over there - That Atlanta's coming, Atlanta's coming, The drums rum-tumming Everywhere. So prepare, say a prayer, Send the word, send the word to beware. We'll be over, we're coming over, And we won't come back till it's over Over there. This is how I'd imagine it going. So far its my favorite.
I'm half serious and half joking. But thanks to another poster, the colors remind me of gryffindor in the Harry Potter series. They chant "Go Go Gryffindor!" in their matches. so now when I see the colors, this plays in my head a whole bunch. Hahaha!
I really like a lot of the ideas. As a UGA grad, Glory Glory is an easy one. We all stole it from "John Brown's Body," so one more variation won't hurt. The Dukes of Hazzard theme is also killer. I also don't see how we can't use the chorus from "Welcome to Atlanta" somehow. I think a lot of the really creative stuff will have to wait on a mascot or team name. I can't recall the Gryffindor song, but it sounds like an awesome idea.
I totally had a funny thought thinking about some old Arsenal songs. One of my favorites they adjusted to fit now. Chim-- Chimney, Chim-- Chimney chim Chim Giroud. who needs Van Persie when we've got Giroud! It got me thinking or singing the Chorus of Let it go to the opposing GK.
After a loss you sing "A Rainy Night In Georgia." No one has a song after a loss and I think that would be something different and pretty cool.
As much as that song annoys me, singing "Let it Go" when the keeper has the ball is quite hilarious. The thing I loved most about basketball band in college is we did stuff like that. I always wished the darn cheerleaders would've come up with something that didn't sound like it had been a cheer for 80 years. I don't get excited about stating I want my team to generally "go." I need to ask the Terminus guys tomorrow if anybody considered singing that "Come on ride that train" song with all the train sound effects. I was impressed with what the Ultras did last year, but they go a little cray cray at times. TL really impressed me at the press conference. Sounds like a really good group.
I'm thinking of an original song. If they paint all the doors to the stadium refs then we can start singing, I want them to turn black, which should be our other color. I see a red door and I want to paint it black ,
If we are called Empire We can do the imperial march after every goal scored. Certain way of striking fear into our opponents
Oh when the South Goes marching in Oh when the South goes marching in I want to be in that number When the South goes marching in
You guys do realize Sherman's soldiers were probably singing the Battle Hymn of the Republic as they lit the torches, right?
shuffling my iPod from high school trying to find good chant songs and I think I've found a winner. After we take the lead break into the chorus of "Hate it or Love I" by 50 cent. "Hate it or love it the underdog's on top, and we're going to shine homie till our hearts stop, go ahead and envy me, I'm Atlanta's MVP, and we're not going anywhere so best to get to know me!" it somthing like that
The chant that is in just about every city and just about every sport, that kills me is the Let's Go _____ Clap--clap--clap-clap-clap How about we adjust it to the OutKast song Hey Yeah AAAAAAA-T-LLLLLL, ATL Clap clap clap
I said this in the flag post and I'll say it here, Cascadia and other established team cultures are not things we must recreate or live up to. We don't need some crazy PR-stunt. Timber Jim (yes that's right Jim) was a fan who original did crazy acrobatics at game and evolved into what the role is today. Now of course it's Timber Joey or Joe, same thing. My point isn't to show I have more useless knowledge than anyone should on west coast soccer history but to point out we don't need to forge traditions, they will come naturally! Trust me and have patience and watch us be the best fans in the MLS!
I too like that song. Reminds me of You'll Never Walk Alone for Liverpool and Forever Blowing Bubbles for West Ham. As far as the You Suck thing goes - I'm personally a little tired of it. It's worn out, as is the We'll Follow song. Nothing against them but I've been going to soccer games since the 70's and I think we can think forward rather than backwards for some of this stuff.
We will not be doing the YSA thing. Is in very poor taste and beyond that just lazy. So fear there. Also, if anyone really wants the group to do one of their song ideas, you have to come to an event and get to know the chant group and get involved in that. Very few members of the leadership use big soccer so they have no idea what's going on here.
Yeah you were right. Still don't know what we will do but it will not be that. As an AC/DC fan I would love to do a Yooooou've Been Thunderstruck but not sure it will be recover well. Haha
Thank god. I'm relieved. Let's hold our heads up here, lads. Be Atlanta fans, not plastic wannabe fans.
One idea I think is extremely important is for blank to allow the terminus legion section to be general admission so they/we can pack in. It will help create a much better atmosphere IMO.
