Yes, Catching a knuckleballer can land you a career. Catcher Josh Thole had to be traded along with RA Dickey and only played when Dickey pitched. Once Dickey was out of the game, so was Thole.

Bill James best line ever IMNSHO was, in assessing Luis Pujols' only value as a player was that "he was willing to try to catch the knuckleball."

I think it is possible that Sunny Jim's GG voters were better at distinguishing between passed balls and wild pitches than the official scorers were...

Sonny Jurgenson to a hungover Sam Huff, while going back onto the field in a game the Redskins would ultimately win 72-48: "How many points do you expect us to score, anyway?"

Huff, breathing hard: "just keep scoring, just keep scoring!"

To quote Crystal Bowersox "This ain't over 'til the whiskey's gone!"

    RIP.

Glad someone else does-- "All That For This" was my album of the year in 2013.

Robert Duvall played several uncredited movie parts, including priest on swing set, in 'Invasion of the bodysnatchers'

Eric Dane, the actor best known as the charming, hunky plastic surgeon nicknamed McSteamy on the wildly successful ABC medical drama “Grey’s Anatomy,” has died. He was 53.

He died 10 months after announcing his A.L.S. diagnosis.

For the sabrmetricians out there, he’s the only Hall of Famer with more defensive value than offensive value. That’s how great of a defensive player he was…his offense was good enough to meet the Hall’s standards, and his defense was even more valuable.

Forbes Field was near the Pitt campus. The field is gone but part of the wall still remains. Each year until recently people would show up to listen to a recording of 5he game. I was there one year, as was Max. Couldn’t get near him though.

Of course, this is my favorite Forbes Field pic. Pitt students watching the game from the roof of the iconic Cathedral of Learning

RIP Maz (who deserves more respect from ********ing autocorrect, which insists on “Max.”

That doesn’t cover Ozzie Smith, whose offense many people believe was NOT up to Cooperstown standards.

EDIT: Baseball Reference says you are correct.
