To be fair ... probably Mozart would be a better gateway listen for newbies to classical stuff

My personal faves are Brahms , Dvorak, Schubert, Schumann and Tchaikovsky

    All very melodic

    Auria's not a newbie, he's a real musician.

And Mozart ain't a gateway, he's the pinnacle IMO.

But he's sort of nuts, whereas Bach was a compulsive teacher-- everything is organized like a lesson book. It's the reason he made such an impression on that equally compulsive student, Frederick the Great.

It ain't my focus, but you can't get beyond the shallow end of anything else musical without at least skimming the Cliff's notes on all of it.

And I strongly recommend attending a rehearsal of a decent professional orchestra, especially one just starting work with a new conductor on a familiar piece. One thinks of performing, say, Beethoven as something like ballet-- as though there's a right way and a wrong way to play it, and it is just a matter of practice makes perfect, but that's not really true. There are wrong ways, true, but there are so many variations available on the right way... the orchestra is really the most flexible, most sensitive instrument imaginable.

I just find pre-charted music to lose some of the adventure and surprise that matter to me.

John Eastman - the brother of Linda McCartney, has passed away. For the last 50 years, Eastman looked after Paul McCartney's business affairs, and until last month, was a director of Apple. His son, Lee, has taken his place on the Apple board.
Paul McCartney left this tribute to his friend on Instagram:
My dear brother-in-law, John Eastman, has passed away. Having known each other for over 50 years it is an extremely sad time for me, and our families.
John was a great man. One of the nicest and smartest people I have had the good luck to have known in my life.
Not only did he help me massively in my business dealings as my lawyer but as a friend he was hard to beat.
His sense of humour always shone through in everything he did and his devotion to his family was supreme.
We had so many fun times together through the years, but when the time came to be serious, he was unbeatable.
There is so much more that can be said of his incredible qualities, but words can hardly describe his passion for life and our affection for this amazing man. He will be sorely missed but always held dear in the hearts of those of us who knew and loved him.
    See ya Johnny!
    Love Paul

I was simply wondering if there’s supposed to be an official coronation ceremony first.

Marsha Hunt, blacklist victim of Tailgunner Joe and Ronald Reagan,104.

Presumably old age. Became something of a low-profile, high impact do-gooder on a global scale, as I hear it.
