Thanks so much for this. I'm gonna do some more research.

I once got to play a bass that Ray Brown had borrowed for a show. I was like, "maybe he bled on it- I can absorb the talent..."

the great Armando Betancourt died at age of 63 (COVID-related according to Honduran press).
He was SA’s Player of 1980s — height of college game — and on our All-Century team. He played on Honduras 1982 WC team, for Strasbourg & indoors.

I don't know why, but that cracked me up.
Dusty wouldn't have had anything to do with that song...

Gibbons is the face of the band, basically. Frank Beard could walk thru a small town in Texas and not be recognized very easily.

And let's face it- they did look enough alike that a media source could get it wrong, especially someone who doesn't know a bass from a guitar. Those people aren't hard to find.

Exactly. I saw the thumbnail and didn't blink. Then I opened the link and did a doubletake, told myself not to be silly, and then looked at the strings and realized I wasn't being silly, the picture editor was...

Also a member of rumor-in-their-own-time "The Jerry Hahn Brotherhood."

He's the keys on "Rainy Day, Dream Away." One of those footnotes with an impressive career behind it. You'll occasionally run into the writing credit (Lane Teitgen) on a track anywhere from Manfred Mann to Ringo Starr to Ice-Cube to Dave Mason-- and chances are Finnegan was on the session, because he was a major purveyor of the music of the obscure Teitgen from artist to artist.
