I saw an interview with him right after filming wrapped, they actually had to go to a West Ham v Milwall match. He did become a Hammer's fan, though I think it was Dominic Monayhan (sp) from Lord of the Rings who turned him onto soccer.
Mark Madden who has the Saturday morning ESPN Radio show and is a sports writer in Pittsburg is a HUGE Liverpool fan. He did a really good spot on the Saturday show the week after the champions league final, basically crushing american sports fans on the issue of loyalty to their teams as compared to the English. He tried to explain soccer to an amercian through the perspective of the english (though he is not english), it was really good.
yeah I recall a FourFourTwo article in its "celebrity fan" column with Freddie Prinze Jr. stating his love for Arsenal. The picture of him with his jersey also had Christopher Klein of American Pie holding a jersey. Sebastian Coe is a Sunderland fan.
It's out in limited release (NYC; LA) right now. I'm not sure if or when it will be released more widely. They previewed it here in Atlanta at a recent film festival but the film hasn't been released here yet. Unfortunately, I couldn't make it.
I doubt it will make it to Crapus Christi then. Oh well, I'll have to put it in the Blockbuster queue when it is released on DVD. Thanks for the info Yoss!
case in point. Wayne Gretzky at US Comiskular Park for a sunday night baseball game on ESPN in a White Sox jersey
Seb Coe is a stuck up pr!ck he doesn't like football... i think you mean steve cram. Aparantly Bobby, Ooooh, Bobby Deniro, Aaaah, he's a lovely person, Ooooh, and a very good actor, Aaaah. Once upon a time in America, Huston, Huston, Huston, Huston Angelica, he's a super actor, and a very lovely guy, with a cheeky smile, and a mole under his eye. His name is Bobby, Ooooh, Bobby Deniro, Aaaah, he's a lovely person, Ooooh, and a very good actor, Aaaah. He was in Godfather two, but not Godfather three, are you, are you, are you looking at me, he could teach Kevin Bacon a thing or two, looking, looking, looking at me are you. His name is Bobby, Ooooh, Bobby Deniro, Aaaah, he's a lovely person, Ooooh, and a very good actor, Aaaah. He played Jake La Motta, in the film of Raging Bull, he ate, he ate, he ate, he ate til he was full, he did some comedy in a film with Seanny Penn, he never, never, never try that again. His name is Bobby, Ooooh, Bobby Deniro, Aaaah, he's a lovely person, Ooooh, and a very good actor, Aaaah. But when he is not acting, it is said it was boring, but I do not believe this, it is you that is boring. In Midnight Run he showed to us a lightning acting style, proving he could swear alot, but also make you smile, This world is full of bad men, but Bobby still repeats, one day a rain will come, to wash the scum off all street. His name is Bobby, Ooooh, Bobby Deniro, Aaaah, he's a lovely person, Ooooh, and a very good actor, Aaaah. is a hibs fan
Well based on one of the other posts above....I may have spoken prematurely. It looks like it won't be released in the U.S. until September. I guess I was confused by the fact that it also had a premiere in NYC a couple of weeks ago.
He's extremely knowledgeable. I used to see him at Piper's in Pittsburgh for matches, Liverpool or otherwise. I also know that he's been to both Anfield and Highbury, plus probably a few other ones. He's commented on how different American and English fans are in the past, citing a guy at Piper's who supports a Second Division club (whose name escapes me). I don't always agree with him, but he's really good at what he does. Also, I know he's Canadian, but ex-Pens defenseman Andrew Ference is an Arsenal supporter, as he and Madden have gone at it on air about that.
Did Mark Madden work for WCW? And during Calgary's Stanley Cup run, they showed an interview with Andrew Ference and he was wearing an Arsenal jersey during the interview. Also sticking with Canadians, the lead singer of Matthew Good Band is a fan as well.
According to Arseweb Spike Lee also appeared on a BBC programme as they say in an Arsenal shirt and declared himself a Gooner when asked about it. There was a story here that Trey Parker appeared in a JVC shirt in a South Park DVD. That would rock. Oddly enough I had an obviously unofficial Arsenal scarf featuring the little scamps as "Gunners" in the home red-and-white. I gave it away to a BIG south park fan. I'll try to find some photots or get in touch with Chris. If anyone else has it photos can they post?
Holy poo, Matty must have read this thread today. I knew he was a huge fan, but this is just freaky! http://www.matthewgood.org/mblog/index.php
Yep. That included his epic match with "Mean" Gene Okerlund in which Madden's shirt (unfortunately) came off. FYI, Madden's said in the past that he posts on these boards, so you never know if he'll pop up here.
Because you get two free in-store rentals per month as well for the times when you don't want to wait for the movie in the mail!
There are three at that I can think of. Matt Good - Arsenal Matt Damon - Liverpool Jenna Jameson - Arsenal
She was interviewed on TEN or the Private Channel wearing an Arsenal cap. I was taken back when I saw this.
snippet from Associated Press: ....NY Yankees' Alex Rodriguez rarely shows displeasure. He's so well spoken, his answers to postgame questions sometimes seem like they're polished to a sheen. And those answers often are blared across back pages, front pages and the airwaves, unlike anything he had to deal with before. "Everything is intensified," he said. "It intensifies to the umph degree." That caused him to build sort of a cocoon existence, not letting reporters or other newcomers get too close. He walks into the clubhouse in blue jeans (and lately an Arsenal soccer jersey), changes into his uniform and quickly heads out to the field, the batting cage or the players lounge...
