I had already planned on buying the game due to screenshots like the one above and articles on the game but it wasn't until after watching the gameplay demo videos that I official became stoked for its release.
Are you telling me you haven't played Fallout, Fallout 2 or Fallout Tactics? Because anyone who has would probably buy anything with the name "Fallout" on it sight unseen. If they sold Fallout-brand feminine hygiene products, I'd get a crate.
I'm trying to squeeze in some of the original Fallout. I find it less immersive than what 3 looks like it will be due to technology limitations. I'm also finding that I'm so weak at the beginning of the game that I get my ass kicked by everything save rats.
That was the worst part of the game for me -- I wanted to play a fast talking, high intelligence type of player but couldn't get past the rats at the beginning of the game. Only my dumb brute type character could kill those things.
NEEEEERRRRRRRDDDD!! Yeah, you need a balance. But intelligence really helps in the middle part of the game. And save often.
Dude, didn't Stuart Little in New Reno teach you anything. Stick and move. Rats can only move four hexes before they can't attack. I'm on the fence with F3. I don't like FPSs, and actually don't care for first-person perspective anyway. So I think I'll wait a while and see what the reviews are like first.
Seeing how it's a Bethesda game... and looks vary similar to Oblivion... I'd be very surprised if the reviews weren't glowing.
Not much in the way of new screenshots (and no new video), but all the gaming sites have an additional 4-hour preview playthru writeup now. Everybody is very excited. I can't wait; I'm definitely buying this on day 1.
The V.A.T.S. system makes it seem a little too easy to kill enemies, at least from the video maybe you need a ranged weapon to take care of the snipers
When the VATS system gives you a success, it does YouTube worthy damage to the enemy. I'm sure you will miss plenty, just like the old targeting system in Fallouts 1 and 2.
This game is "in the wild" on torrent networks. I can barely restrain myself from hacking my Xbox so I can start playing now (and buy the game when it comes out in 3 weeks). It's a good thing FIFA comes out in a few days. I'll just play a lot of DiRT until then.
I think there is a percentage that you can fail. When the player was targetting a person's head in the video, it had a much smaller percentage rate next to it. Also, one video showed a person using V.A.T.S. to target these mutated sea creatures and it missed and he had to frantically shoot them.
Check this out http://speeddemosarchive.com/Fallout.html Some dude won Fallout in just 9 minutes and 19 seconds.
I'm lovin' it. I need the game guide, tho. I just got to the end of a dungeon, and I need a key to unlock the cell at the end - and I can't find it anywhere in the dungeon. I've scoured it three times. Can't find it. Gah! Anyway, it's a fun game. Better than Oblivion, for sure. Ammo is scarce, and I can barely scrape up enough to survive.
