Did you spot anyone interesting in the crowd? I bumped into Thomas Rongen on the shady side councourse just before the game, and asked him who(m) he was rooting for. He said, "The Revolution, of course."
As I was waiting to go out the Center Circle lot exit, Ty Keough went walking past. I wouldn't have recognized him, but I was thinking, "Who the hell would wear a suit today?", so I took a closer look. Sadly, I didn't have the presence of mind to roll down my window and ask him if there was much hav-ock.
Steve Ralston's father made his way down to the Supporters tailgate and broke bread with the fans. Incredibly nice and down-to-Earth guy and it's easy to see where Ralston's character comes from. The Magpie
I think I saw Bob Gansler. I know the Wiz's fans aren't too thrilled with him now, but he helped them get a a title. RC
Blissfully unaware of any "interesting" or famous faces in the crowd. Did manage to catch to scoreboard shots of Robert and Jonathan Kraft cheering in their box though. Oh and of course, seeing Todd Smith on the sidelines during warm-ups and post match was wonderful. A brave soldier to be out there risking an infection, but I'm sure like Twellman with the knee sprain, it would have taken a lot to keep him away. Especially on his last day at the office while his team is in a championship. Happy he was able to share this moment with them. Again, I wish him the best with his treatment and with his future endeavors.
Saw LD and DMB signing autographs at the Soccer Celebration. Man are those guys young and small (or am I old and fat?)!
I said hello to Esse Baharmast as he walked past the tailgate. Also said Hi to Rob Jachym as he passed me near the Ticket area. btw: The thing that impressed me about the Kraft viewing?... They were standing for a Revs corner kick when the camera hit them. WTG!
I saw a guy that looked just like Marco Etcheverry in my section. It wasn't him, of course, but the mullet was quite the replica.
I thought that very brief shot of the Krafts was great. They looked really engaged. I hope the $$$ lit up in their eyes when they saw the big crowd, that they feel the dissapointment of losing the cup (just like me), and they get the bug to win the next cup, whatever it takes! Hooray Krafts!
It was good to see Bob Kraft going around the field during warm ups shaking hands with all the Rev players and wishing them luck. I have never understood the negative stuff posted on the Board about the Krafts. They love sports and are behind the Revs as well as the Patriots. I wish we had been able to bring them the Cup. If we had, The Red Sox fans would have started lobbying for the Krafts to take over as owners
In case you're wondering, Rob Jachym plays for the Western Mass Pioneers: http://www.a-league.com/game_reports/2002/connecticut_brame_06162002.shtml I seem to recall that he once scored all 3 goals for U Hartford against Harvard in an NCAA playoff 3-2 victory at Harvard's stadium. Am I correct? Where's Doug Chapman when we need him?
I cant gaurantee this, but someone that had to have been Twellman's brother was in section 142. SUPAH REVOLUTION!!
I saw Cobi Jones in The Fort. He should know better than to wear white pearls with a red dress, though.
I don't think James Twellman was there. I am pretty sure he played for Stanford this weekend. You may have seen Taylor's Dad, Tim. He looks like alot like Taylor (only darker hair) and incredibly young looking.
