    Changing teams... nice.

Now if only he can change another... to the USMNT.

Dolo isn't getting any younger and Chandler looks promising too... but avoiding another Bornstein debacle after Dolo went down - we could use any/all help.

I'd love to see Johnson and Daniel Williams in Nats jersey. Good move for him. He'll defintely be in the rotation.

Result (highlight to reveal): Johnson was a late sub in the cup match today against Germania Windeck. He scored in extra time to give Hoffenheim a 2-1 advantage. They went on to win 3-1.

does Klinsmann even know about him? This is exactly the type of guy who should get a callup for Belgium game.

JK, c'mon, jump on this. This is vital part of the job.
I am excited about having JK, but this kind of stuff
requires immediately followup and follow through.

Johnson must be invited for Belgium, no ifs/ands/buts

So its official. We gotta have this guy come in and hold down the back line. Or try out for it anyway.

    So.........We got a #1 LB.

This kid is the real deal, there's a reason why hes starting in the Bundesliga.

Seriously, everyone says this is going to be a rebuilding cycle, I think were getting better by the day.

When was the last time he played LB? From what I've seen, he's playing CM this season.

    Re: Fabian Johnson

I'll just paste what I wrote in the gameday thread...

While he was on paper and at the kickoff lined up on the right side of midfield, the front four (Johnson, Obasi, Firmino and Babel) played a very fluid game and were regularly interchanging the wing, central and advanced positions. I'd say that he spent at least half of his time as the central guy directly behind or even with the striker, and occasionally pushed up to the lead. I only recall him spending any time positioned on the left side on one instance for a short period. That's more where Babel & Obasi cover.

To be honest, I find Johnson too creative and aggressive of an attacker to be wasted in the defense....even if him lining up at left back in the US jersey would, for most fans, be akin to Jürgen parting the red sea and leading the national team to the promised land. Johnson and Chandler on the right side would be a lot of fun to watch, but this is the wrong forum for writing that kind of thing...

    Re: Fabian Johnson

hmm...for those of us who have never seen him play, how excited should we be about this? Is he someone that will make a difference for us?

Do you think he'll get called in for the Belgium match? I suppose a starter for Hoffenheim that says he wants to play for the USA won't get passed over forever.

He had an assist and drew a penalty today and he's a very versatile player for a solid bundesliga side. If it comes to fruition, i'll be very excited. And oh yeah, he's only 23/

    Re: Fabian Johnson

Well he has done all this in the midfield. If he locks down a midfield spot for his club I don't want him playing LB for us.

From watching him he has decent skill, can maintain possession and can make good runs into the box he is nothing to spectacular, though. He also seems to be a decent athlete. He can fill in quite nicely for another American MF in the Bundesliga :D.
