Of course. Same position as Darwin Quintero in the past, Ramos and Ibarbo. Castillo can co-op with Jackson/Bacca and I have a good feeling about him.
I was referencing the point when he was being grouped with our other strikers...He's a decent finisher but he's no striker. He's got pace and uses both feet which is a huge plus.
5'6 every inch counts haha Height isn't that important for a striker. It's insanely important for a CB or GK. unless you are Ivan Córdoba.
I disagree. In fact you make my point. The fact that it's basically mandatory for the CB and GK, having a short striker is a disadvantage. Yes, there are exceptions but as the CBs get bigger so will the strikers. Two equally good strikers to choose from but one os 5'7" and the other 6'1"...which one would you go for?
notice I said there are "exceptions". That being said, I don't consider players like Aguero, Sanchez true strikers, ala Dzeko, Jackson, Falcao. Most of Castillo's goals I see on the Video reels start way before he's even in the box an usually in a winger's position.
Nobody is calling for Castillo to be a target striker like Jackson and Falcao. He can be a solid second striker like Dorlan, he has the qualities for it even though he currently plays as a winger.
I guess much of it comes from previous coaching schools growing up. usually played with a main areas striker and supporting attacking forwards. I only use that striker designation for a given role of a player that usually sits in the box to finish. I recall watching Gareca @ America de Cali and my dad always telling me how he was the perfect striker...always in the area/around the box and in open but tights spaces ready to kill the ball and score.
you know i've always really liked Fabian Castillo, I remember him from the u-20 NT from a a few years ago and was really annoyed to have seen him go off to the MLS, luckily he's developed very well and he looks class. I think he'll be a mainstay in the NT. only problem is it'll probably be tough for him to go to europe from the MLS, however being with the NT should make that easier.
yeah they do, just look at Montero spent his whole career scoring goal but who cares? he never got called up to Colombia and it took him idk how many years before he managed to get to Sporting CP. Honestly I expected to just stay in the MLS until he turned into an old man and then Cali would just resign him. Besides, when do you ever hear about anyone going from the MLS to a decent league in europe unless their established USA NT players.
The guy is super fast and hustle's all game long. Could be a valuable asset at the end of matches. Let's see what happens.
Looks like Southampton is interested in Castillo. Do you still stick with that opinion? IF the deal happens hell be the 3rd Colombian to jump from mls to Europe? Fredy Montero Juan toja Maybe Castillo?
if he receives a called up for novemeber will complete 5 called up matches...i dont remember the percentage the lenguage hability, will help too.
http://www.futbolred.com/colombiano...espierta-el-interes-del-swansea-city+16401176 its Swansea which he'd have a better shot of playing. Does Cali still own any part of his contract?
usa is non eu he needs the permission too...and to be american only is adavantaje for the lenguage obstacle to get the visa
