FA Women's Cup semi-final results Man City 1 Liverpool 0 Birmingham 1 Chelsea 1 ( 4-2 pso) The final will be played on the 13th of May at Wembley Stadium
Mallory Pugh has just announced she's quitting UCLA to play pro, Since Germany doesn't pay all that well, I take it once again it' either the English or French leagues that are interested in her. Do you know what club is after her? PS got to say, the English must be taking in a big loss from paying those high salaries(like Dunn & Lloyd's $300-400K), the Chelsea final had only 1500 in attendance with apparently no tv coverage(as i can't even find highlights). The tickets at the final at Wembley are only 15 pounds,. here are write ups on both games; looks like Ellen White has resurrected her career again while poor Aluko only came in as sub in the 80th minute; what a way to treat last year's leading scorer! Birmingham City will face Manchester City in SSE Women's FA Cup Final after beating Chelsea on penalties Man City once again wins by scoring one goal! Will that be their lucky number vs Lyon? Glad to see my fav, Melisa Lawley get it, Hopefully Sampson was watching Manchester City reach SSE Women's FA Cup final with victory against Birmingham City
Aluko is nowhere near as good as Dunn or Bachmann with the ball at her feet. It is really logical to see her on the bench. White yesterday played in midfield funnily enough, originally in a 3-4-1-2 that changed into a 3-6-1, getting away from Notts County certainly did her a lot of good, like every player who left them to be fair.
Sad news. What support does top level clubs get financially? BBC Sport - Notts County Ladies: WSL 1 club fold https://t.co/07EChf0awW— Hedvig Lindahl (@hedvig_lindahl) April 21, 2017
Geez... =-( I know I generally tend to get a little upset at men's clubs - whose budgets are orders of magnitude larger - when they don't share costs/ownership with the women's club they share a name with, but just looking at the numbers in that article, it really does hit home how big of a discrepancy there is between professionalism and the attendance&sponsorship numbers in Europe.
As I mentioned somewhere else with teams with a budget allegedly like City around 1.8M£ Arsenal 1.6M£ and Chelsea around the same budget. Teams like Notts County, Reading who are said to be about 500,000£ or Sunderland at 700,000£ cannot compete. Note those are not all official figures and teams are quite angry when you mention alledged budgets. And those with smaller budgets can do nothing really except fight to stay in the division. If you want a full time pro squad of 20 players for example, it is a big operational budget. here's the direct link to the Liverpool/Reading match https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=1408853499153336 great first half!. Much faster paced & more exciting game thanks to the turf(or 3-D as the English call it). Nice camera work & commentary, but no replays on the goals, Caroline Weir named best Scottish player over the likes of Little, Ross & Evans???.......Harding star of the game, but where she's been all our lives? Greenwood coming into her own....LIV's gk Chamberlin giving up two easy goals despite being England's #2......Chaplen excellent pick up for Reading

shlj, what the bleep is going with Arsenal? They got an all-star lineup, yet can't get anything done with them. I bet Beth Mead wish she could of stayed in Sunderland(no playing time so far at Arsenal) and where the heck is Little? http://us.women.soccerway.com/matches/2017/04/30/england/wsl/sunderland-wfc/arsenal-lfc/2393196/
here's highlights of the high scoring Arsenal vs Liverpool match, my fav, English player, the fb Alex Greenwood scores directly on a corner kick. Then in fine English fashion, scores on her own team! But gets a couple of assists to make up for it. Arsenal in the meantime has 3 of their best players come in as subs(Taylor, Williams &) and still the question begets? Were the heck is Kim Little? Despite the FA Cup final between Man City & Birmingham is still a week away, they've all ready sold an record amount of tickets for the game, currently topping the 34K mark Over 34,500 tickets sold already - the final between @BCLFC & @ManCityWomen is set for a new @SSEWomensFACup record https://t.co/Aya2X96IQY— Tom Garry (@TomJGarry) May 5, 2017
Be Beth Mead is recovering from a collarbone injury that need an operation. She has played two cup game so far against Spurs where she scored and against Birmingham where she was not useful tactically with her profile. Kim Little is still injured and Arsenal does not communicate about it. here's highlights of of the FA Cup final. The attendance was put at 35,100. But the secret to that total is they let in kids for free. So hmm...........maybe half were paying customers? Man City Women 4-1 Birmingham City Ladies - SSE Women's FA Cup Final | Official Highlights - YouTube
35,100 is still 35,100 who wanted to see it in person. And even if half were free, (which is probably an exaggeration,) >17,000 paying customers would still put it in the top echelon of WoSo games. Congrats to Man City for now holding all three domestic titles at once.
from what I've read, it didn't say kids were let in free with paying adult, If it was the US, entire kids soccer teams usually make out the majority of fans at woso games & due to London's(majority of Europe for that matter) excellent public transportation systems, most kids wouldn't even need rides. The one thing I can't confirm is what the average fan of England is? Watching the woso Bundesliga, the average fan in attendance seems to be in retirement age, with no kids in sight(not even grand kids!)
here's highlights from the recent game between the star studded Arsenal/Chelsea squads. Game appears to be a little sloppy. Not much footage of the two American. Dunn & O'Reilly. CH's Aluko & Davison seem to be out of favor with coach Emma Hayes as Bachmann & Dunn start ahead of them. Kim Little is still not on the roster for Arsenal, but Jordan Nobbs steals the show for them. highlights lineups http://us.women.soccerway.com/matches/2017/05/17/england/wsl/chelsea-lfc/arsenal-lfc/2393209/

Yeovil 1 pt -20 Yeovil and Bristol were promoted at the end of last season and will have to work a lot to avoid relegation next season. Yeovil are still part timer on probably a tenth of Arsenal, Man City and Chelsea's budget. Two important news about the 2017/18 and 2018/19 seasons following Notts County Ladies folding. The previous calendar had a deadline to announce the licensing for the 2018/19 season at the end of May. The deadline is now 9th of October. At the same time, the FA reopened the FA WSL 1 licensing to replace Notts County Ladies for the 2017/18 season to ALL the FA WSL 2 CLUBS including the club that was promoted to FA WSL 2 from the FA WPL at the end of the 2016/17 season ( Tottenham Hotspurs Ladies). Everton, Doncaster and Brighton are favourites among fans as they have a big budget at FA WSL 2 level. Next season FA WSL 1 : 10 teams and FA WSL 2 10 teams as well.
