This isn't very clearly written IMO. Are they getting rid of the scouting department and replacing them with a better scouting department? Or are they just getting rid of the scouting department?
Pablo Maurer @mlsist.bsky.social: To be clear, when I say "cut," I mean they were fired. They'll be replaced, in some form or another. Not clear yet by who.
https://www.sport.pl/pilka/7,64946,...o-messim-i-interze-miami-jego-ojciec-tam.html Article in polish, but Klich blasting Miami hard in the press. Also says NYRB probably the ideal place for incoming transfers. Something tells me he has some hard feelings towards this organization. Or maybe Lesesne. Not sure. Also not sure if best put in this thread or other teams thread but I feel it has a bit of relevance here.
Attended a couple of the pregame chalk talks with Caleb and let’s just say they both explained a lot about the state of the team/roster.
The full article translated: Klich speaks out against Messi and Inter Miami. "His father rules there." Mateusz Klich has been a Cracovia player for several weeks now, having returned to the club after years of international travel. He spent recent years in the MLS, first at D.C. United and later at Atlanta United. The latest video on the Foot Truck channel features an interview with the experienced midfielder. Klich was asked, among other things, which MLS clubs he would recommend moving to. He offered a surprising and very harsh opinion on Inter Miami and Leo Messi. For fourteen years, Mateusz Klich tried his hand at international football. There were some complete missteps, such as the transfer to Wolfsburg, where he left Cracovia in 2011. However, in the Netherlands (PEC Zwolle, Twente Enschede), and especially in England (Leeds), he made a name for himself. The end of his international career was in the American MLS, where he spent two and a half seasons. First, he played for D.C. United, and then for Atalanta United. Klich has seen a lot of action in the MLS over the years. His performance was better with the former club. He was a key player for the Washington team in the 2023 and 2024 seasons (the US plays a spring-autumn system). Things weren't quite as rosy in Atlanta, where he played alongside Bartosz Slisz, among others. He made 16 appearances in six months (no goals, one assist), but in the summer he decided to part ways with the club and return to Cracovia in August after many years. An interview with the 41-time Polish international appeared on the "Foot Truck" YouTube channel. Klich was asked which MLS clubs he would recommend for a potential transfer of one of his compatriots. The midfielder also decided to single out one club for criticism. Is Messi Inter Miami's biggest... problem? Klich very harsh on the club. It was Inter Miami, Leo Messi's current team. And it was the legendary Argentine that Klich singled out as his number one problem. "I don't recommend Miami as long as Messi is there. It's a disaster; people are leaving, coaches and physiotherapists are leaving. Organizationally, it's bad. Messi's dad basically runs the club. Everyone speaks Spanish, and nothing can be done without their consent. The club itself is also 45-50 minutes from Miami," Klich said. "I would recommend New York. Red Bull has a better stadium now, but City is also building a kick-ass stadium. There are clubs like Columbus Crew and Cincinnati, which have great stadiums and a great base, but the place to live is very boring. I would recommend Nashville, if you have the option of Nashville SC. It's a beautiful place, the capital of the country. Portland and Seattle have atmosphere, but it's the end of the world," added the Cracovia player.
https://wtop.com/dc-united/2025/09/...ows-changes-will-make-club-competitive-again/ can't embed the Bluesky post I got there from - it was a repost from Roche with the comment "More double talk from the owners." Original post from José Mauricio Umaña “We’ve got to turn things around and create a winning atmosphere.” NEW ON @wtopnews.bsky.social: I spoke to @dcunitedofficial.bsky.social's owners about the state of the MLS club, including: - Firing GM Ally Mackay - Roster building & spending for 2026 - Fans calling on them to sell #DCU
Note that the WTOP print story refers to "Levine" "Levein" and/or "Levien". Damn autocorrect. Maybe someone can get AI to fix that after it finds DCU some players.
Bogert listed the rollover GAM reported for each team. Read it and see another reason Mackay got the boot. LAFC has about $2M in rollover GAM, DCU not so much.
I’m happy they let McKay go, but isn’t this kind of Kasper territory? They should have bought out Klich, they should’ve reached an injury settlement with Birnbaum, this kind of stuff seems why he was kept around. ‘What is it, exactly, that you do here, Dave?’
Who believes anything Levien/Levine/Leveene has to say? He should get a job in the Trump administration.
Why cut them when you don’t have the staff at least partially identified? At least have people out there gathering info, finding new leads on players who might help us. It couldn’t have been costing them that much to keep them for another month or three.
