You know, if they just increased the # of playoff teams from 9 to 16 in each conference, they give every team the chance to market season tickets better...
Yea, same I need to schedule time to tell them why they suck since no one read my responses to the end of season survey. Its like paying someone to be your teenager.
Would you believe my guy is booked until the morning of the 25th, he must have had a ton of people schedule their opt out exit interviews. Its like some sort of bull shit, back handed way of making it hard to get out of this transaction.
Total f’ing BS. Why must we talk to these people on the phone to get the god damn opt out form? This makes me not even want to support the team moving forward.
My guy called me because he couldn't set up his calendar properly and we had out talk. I opened with, "did you read my midseaon survey responses?", and he asked if there was any chance I'd keep my seats as the team has been "better recently", so I told him, "no this decision was made in June and the team hasn't done enough or really anything since June that would make me believe this ownership could build a consistent winner in DC". He sent me the opt out form and that was that. Its 20+ years since a season will open that I don't have tickets for. I remember when AEG was new and wondered how bad it must be that they own like half the teams. I remember with Will Chang's group came in, he wasn't even the guy at that time. I remember running into him in lot 8 and sharing a beer with him and talking about the team. He was truly a fan, not just some rich guy rooting for his shiny new purchase. Then came the dark days when sheisty Thohir and Levien came in talking big and like we'd have a stadium in a year or three. And of course there are the current dark ages where literally no one in the soccer media has anything good to say about DCU. In the decade+ I've had full season tix, we've had two good second halves of a season. That fall when Patty Mullins couldn't miss and of course Rooney's 3 good months. Both ended in highly disappointing home playoff games. And who could forget our historic double, the Spoon & the USOC. Maybe I will come back when there is new, success driven ownership, because the current group doesn't know how to win and I don't think the league even wants them to win. I think Garber would be thrilled and would dance in the street if Levien sold to anyone short of the Ayatollah.
To be fair EVERYONE talked big - mayors, DC councilmen, state representatives from MD, owners, GMs, local developers
I am trying to imagine Mark Lerner, Michelle Kang or Ted Leonsis or anyone else for that matter standing at a lectern wielding a machete.
Si I havent decided to renew yet. My seats are up 10% (after 30% last year). Plan improvements: - Tix Exchange for Credit now must be done 9 days in advance (instead of the current 48 hours) - mild promises of better international friendly teams - limited availability for away tix vs Charlotte - better discount on upgrade or additional tickets thats about it.
The 9 day exchange deadline is weird and not great (even if I get why the team might want to do it that way) but I renewed my tickets already.
What I want is them to allow us to use credit at season ticket holder rates instead of dynamic retail rates. They say they will be offering some unspecified discount, but it wont be enough to move the needle juxtaposed to the 9 days.
Just about everything they promise now is offered in vague language that give them the ability to give/take what they want in how they deal with season tix customers. How many extra seats are people buying? I bought extra seats exactly one time in the last 12 years. It was was always upgrades for us once they killed the FAM program and the player access they were selling. I found most premium seats can be had at very favorable prices within a couple of days of the games on any ticket site other than DCU/Ticketmaster.
Sad that people who care enough to post on an Internet bulletin dedicated to the team don't want season tickets anymore. Despite their incompetence on and off the field, people here care.
I care, I don't live locally any more but I would not pay for a single game ticket from these boobs and idiots.
