I had high hopes for him even after that, as he seemed to step in line quickly and played a match later. But yeah, he seems intent on burning bridges.
I told my girlfriend about this tradition yesterday after the match...and after excitedly telling her of the efficacy of you going on your hikes, she just turns around and says, "Do you really believe he's actually doing it or just saying he is? It is the internet after all." The thought had honestly not occurred to me and I went through all the stages of grief trying to process what it meant that @GunnerJacket might be still watching the games and pretending he isn't. While I'm melting down about the potential that a fellow internet user is lying to me, she just says, "Whatever he's doing, it's working. So even if he's lying and still watching, he should still do that." Moral of the story: @GunnerJacket, even if you're lying, you must never tell us. Keep doing what you are doing and this tradition will continue to bring us wins, whether that's pretending to hike or actually hiking.
That's hilarious! Tell her yes I'm actually doing it and spent yesterday at a place called Linwood Nature Preserve. It's only 15 mins away and has a 1.3 mile loop that I did 4 times, with a break by the lake shore in between. I watched the S***s match and Arsenal lost, then I hiked during the Liverpool match and Arsenal won! What else is a fan supposed to do given that clear evidence?! Besides, given the frustration of watching such an enigmatic, up and down team sometimes it's best NOT to watch! The truth is that during and after my divorce hiking became one way for me to get out, get away from screens, and get back into shape. It's also a way to have QT with my son since he's not a sports fan. So that and tubing down rivers are great ways for us to have fun with plenty of options in the area. I can't afford world travel but we've pretty much seen every attraction and scenic vista within a 3 hour drive.
Awesome, I never doubted you. If you ever come to WA we have some great hiking we can go do (COVID willing)
Duly noted! Only been to Seattle area (cousin lives there) but hope to return to catch an ATL vs Sounders match and see more of the sites. Especially hyped for the city since they decided on removing the waterfront causeway. Need to do more urban tourism once this is all over and my Atlanta United seat-mate and I vowed to hit at least 1 road match a year to someplace new. Someday...
North of the Arctic circle is the worst I could think of. Don't think FC McMurdo Station can afford his wages.
Not to throw any cold water on this science stuff, and as you know I already absolved you of any burden/responsibility, but I'm want to ask: what did you do during the Villa match? Watch or hike or other?
I think I might've mentioned, about 9 of us who sit together at United matches did the Portland road trip (hard to believe almost a year ago) last season. So much fun. We had planned on Montreal this season --- obviously didn't happen.
@GunnerJacket knows he's more than welcome to visit me at Red Bull Arena... if they ever let fans back in there... if the ATL-NYRB rivalry keeps up... if, if, if. And of course that goes for you too. However, I won't take it badly if you choose to visit those (formerly) packed out venues in Portland & Seattle, which I've been increasingly envious of, as the RBA crowds just seem to dwindle. Anyway, we digress...
This just showed up in my email. Fun to watch! https://player.arsenal.com/video/inside-dressing-room-celebrations-banter-and-partying Nice to see Mustafi in there on crutches whooping it up. But there are 2 high-profile players conspicuously absent... let's pray their situations get resolved, e.g. they find a place to move on to.
I was trying to be nice and not use your name in the story but if you come in here pretending you're not my girlfriend I guess I have to set the record straight
I said outright I had to work that day so my actions re: Arsenal were out of my control. For Citeh I was hoofing it on Sawnee Mountain but was able to get updates and did peek a few times.
Every single piece of land North of the M25 is a carpark for dogging, so your question is kind of redundant for @thebigman 's purposes
