Nice to see Nick back in the thick of things. He's out raced Kubica in the last 2 races. I see Nick taking the lead over Kubica within the next 3 races. He's only 4 points off.
Well interesting race in Hungary. Massa drives a brilliant race before his engine blows up with a couple of laps left. Hamilton has a tyre puncture which drops him down from second (eventually finishing 5th) Kimi despite looking like he had problems all weekend, gets on the podium. Glock is second Heikki Kovalainen wins his first Grand Prix.
First GP @ Valencia, supposed to be a good track for overtaking...not today though. 1. Felipe Massa 2. Lewis Hamilton 3. Robert Kubica 4. Heikki Kovalainen 5. Jarno Trulli 6. Sebastian Vettel 7. Timo Glock 8. Nico Rosberg Massa drove a brilliant race. However there was controversy over his exit from a pit stop. Some think he should've been penalized for being released into the path of Sutil. The stewards decided to reprimand and fine Ferrari €10,000 ($14,800) which has led people (not for the first time...) to question the impartiality of the FIA towards Ferrari. In the other Ferrari a mechanic was hurt during a Kimi pit stop but is ok. Kimi failed to finish the race after an engine problem. Toyota continued to improve & Vettel again showed his promise.
massa incident wouldn't have been an issue if they widened pit road. usually a little more room at most tracks. they did right by fining him. and, no, i'm not a ferrari fan. jarno did great!
Awesome Vettel. Berger says he's gonna win World Championships in the future & I agree. Youngest Polesitter, podium finish & race winner in F1 history. Hamilton got up to second with some ruthless overtaking & was looking good on a one stop strategy. However after he came in, the conditions changed & he had to change his tyres again a few laps later, eventually finishing 7th. Massa in 6th, means he now trails Hamilton by 1 point. Kimi finished out of the points. Kovalainen took second, as Mclaren-Mercedes closed Ferrari's lead to 5 points.
well, i wouldn't get my hopes up too high. the rain did play a factor in both the pole and the win. but well done none the less.
Great race by Vettel. Sure the rain played some part, but the lead he had at the first pit stop (I forget how big) was very impressive. Hamilton, again, showed how good he is in the rain.
yeah, i'm not intent on taking anything away from the lad. he got away from the pack twice. well done.
Are they running backwards on the Singapore circuit? http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/motorsports/formula_one/circuit_guide/7249397.stm I am trying to think, but there isn't another counterclockwise circuit, is there? And why did they have to do it that way?
After studying the circuit, I think the cars would be able to go faster going backward than the other way. Particularly around turn 5, it is a short straight leading to a modest turn leading to the the long straight. The other way, the entry to the long straight is a tight 90 degree turn.
from what i little saw yesterday and friday i like night racing. you can see the cars better. the sun seems to wash them out a bit...
Do they have night racing in Indy/NASCAR? Commentator/announcer was saying you can see the drivers eyes on the slow mo's because they're using different visors to deal with the light Massa was driving so well but the computer system thingy ruined his race, not his fault at all. Kimi was 5th with a few laps left but he hit the wall. Hamilton third with a steady drive. 1 Fernando Alonso 2 Nico Rosberg 3 Lewis Hamilton 4 Timo Glock 5 Sebastian Vettel 6 Nick Heidfeld 7 David Coulthard 8 Kazuki Nakajima Safety car worked out well in the end for the top 2. Had Alonso not been so unfortunate in qualifying yesterday he may have been on the wrong strategy! Another good race for Vettel & nice to see both the Williams in the points. Drivers' Championship 1) Hamilton 84 2) Massa 77 3) Kubica 64 4) Raikkonen 57 Constructors' Championship 1) Mclaren-Mercedes 135 2) Ferrari 134 3) BMW Sauber 120 Three rounds left. 12 Oct (Japan) 19 Oct (China) 2 Nov (Brasil) --- How do you guys use the ITV stream anyway? Thought you couldn't see it outside the UK? Actually I'm in the UK & when I click on it...it tells me I can't see it because I'm not in the UK Agreed. The Ferrari boss warned it would be particularly difficult to pass around here. Prefer it to Valencia though.
Fernado FTW!!! Woohoo, I haven't had much to celebrate this year, or last for that matter. Man I hope this is the turn that Alonso needed to start getting back to the top of F1. What a race.
