    re: Tony

Well, MetroStars still have Zach Wells (who they pulled back) and Jonny Walker.

If Tony goes to New York, I'm guessing it'd have to be a trade for Walker.

The other thing I trade rumor that was going around pre-draft was that Walker was going to Chivas, an allocation was going from Chivas to Chicago, and Henry Ring (I think) was headed to New York.

I've also heard that Chivas were getting a keeper from Chivas de Guadalajara....

    Who knows?

I think this is what everyone pretty much expected to happen, and I think we've got to feel good about the people we lossed and those we didn't. Preki, Meola and Igor were great choices for the unprotected list. CJ and Gansler did a great job putting a good list together that benefited us.

Here's to next season, and all those Zards sitting behind the goal can now rest easy, except when Cisco brings those Goats into KC!

    Me too.

It makes me at least a little bit more happy that Surfer boy will be back in California, where he obviously felt more at home.

Yeah I was hoping we'd hold on to him and see what he could develop into. I'm sure he'll be more at home in California I just hope it doesn't come back to hurt us.

Since its likely that we'll be in the East next year, we won't see too much of Taylor or Gomez.

Zotinca is a decent right back, but I'm guessing Ellinger and Rongen thought they could find similar players elsewhere and decided to take advantage of other available players.

In terms of Walsh, with Klein, Simutenkov and Preki (I wouldn't be surprised to hear a retirement) as question marks, we'll need midfielders, and Walsh so at least glimpses of his talent later in the season.

My concern on losing Taylor is lack of depth at striker. With all of our injury problems this season, I still think we got REALLY lucky . . . we got a full season out of Josh. If we'd lost him to one of his annual injuries, we would have been toast.
I shudder to think that our first option of the bench, right now, is Detter.

  16. I think Detter may be better than we saw during the year. In fact it seems that Gansler thought more of him in his system. If I remember he was our leading scorer during preseason.

I bet you used to shudder about Davy during his first couple of years.

well, I kinda forgot the draft was on TV today, I was busy playing soccer this afternoon, and then took the fiance out to dinner. I figured those were the two players we'd lose, while I was worried about losing Zotinca, I figured that if Chivas chose Gomez, then he would be the first one we pulled back.

Gomez is one of those players just good enough not waive. He is now Chivas problem. Losing Taylor frustrates me. He could be good, he could be horrible. He is an unknown commodity and I wish we could've seen what he has to offer before he got stolen away. A bad cup final his rookie year is not what I like base a decsision on. I believe he did have a brace earlier this year so we do know he is capable of scoring.

chris brown could've scored those, and we all know how anemic his goal scoring prowess was.

Hmm. I don't really think Chris Brown could have scored those. I think his time away from the club made you forget how freaking terrible that joker was. Enjoy, RSL.

Brown could have scored those goals, but he would not of made the runs that Taylor made to get in the box. Taylor was the only one making the runs.
Still, he had to go. It doesn't matter how hard you work, if you can't deliver at the finish.
