That's only ten, and I think you said Heath Pearce twice, but I'm not sure though,:confused:.

Has anyone noticed we have 7 players over 30.

    8 players over 25

    # POS Player Name Age
    9 F Juan Pablo Angel 36
    30 GK Sergio Arias 23
    2 D Andrew Boyens 28
    17 F Justin Braun 24
    27 F Chris Cortez 23
    16 M Laurent Courtois 33
    59 M Bryan dela Fuente 19
    7 M Simon Elliott 37
    99 F Victor Estupinan 23
    19 D/M Jorge Flores 22
    18 M Blair Gavin 22
    13 D Ante Jazic 35
    1 GK Dan Kennedy 29
    10 M Nick LaBrocca 26
    11 M Michael Lahoud 25
    77 D David Junior Lopes 29
    23 F Marcos Mondaini 26
    15 F Alejandro Moreno 32
    5 M Paulo Nagamura 28
    3 D Heath Pearce 27
    22 GK Zach Thornton 38
    8 D Mariano Trujillo 34
    4 D Michael Umana 29
    20 D Zarek Valentin 20
    21 M Ben Zemanski 23

Do we really need players over 30. I understand about players who bring experience to the club, but we have 4 players over 35 years of age. We really need the younger players to step up and take over or let them go. We have way to many players who in most countries should have already retired. This is one of the problems i think the club has. Usually Gk are good until they hit 40,(Kasey Keller ex) and Juan Pablo Angel. When the expansion draft comes, I really hope we don't see any player over 30-35 been protected with the exception of Kennedy or Jazic.

Forward Tristan Bowen, who is on loan to Roeselare in Belgium, is exempt from the expansion draft as a Home Grown Player. Second-year midfielder Blair Gavin and rookie defender Zarek Valentin also are exempt unless they "graduate" from the Generation adidas program. No word yet on that, but Gavin is more likely to move on to a senior roster designation than is Valentin.

    Serrano twitted
"Just spoke to @cdchivasusa general manager Jose @Domene about the expansion draft and Ryan Smith trade. More to come shortly..."

I guess we will have to wait.

Interesting to see that Valentine is unprotected over Flores, a not so favorite player of Frasier's and Nagamura a player that made no impact last season. Valentine is as good as gone.

Moreno? Why? Dood is living it up as an ESPN analyst haha.

Anyone notice how most of our recent draft picks are going unprotected? (opposed to a couple years ago when they were the nucleus)

Montreal STEALS chuck.just got themselves some serious talent. It'll finally be nice to see this guy be developed and respected. Shame on the politics of the FO for making all this young talent available and sticking with all the overpriced retreads that gave us a less than stellar effort this year

“You get 11 players that you have to protect and there are rules that you have to protect a certain number of foreign players and we did that,” general manager José Domene told MLSsoccer.com. “At the end of the day, we protected, who we thought that we need.

“Like I've said, you play the odds,” he added. “You also want to keep guys that may have value for other teams so that they're not left unprotected. Unfortunately, you can't protect everybody, so it is what it is.”

I'm still puzzled on why on earth would they protect Moreno. We have better foreign players we could protect. Well Valentine might not be a Goat by tomorrow morning. Maybe his salary is a factor or the coaches just don't have confidence in him.

Wow, what does that say about their drafting ability, talent evaluation, roster management skills, understanding of Expansion Draft / Generation Adidas rules, etc.

Salary cap could be a possible issue. From my understanding Gavin and Valentine have graduated from Generation Adidas and once that happens their salaries count against are salary cap. Valentine $132,000.00, Gavin $74,000.00.

Either Valentine or Gavin will go today. I can see Gavin been picked up by Montreal for his skills and salary. I can see Valentine been picked for his international experience.

Ante Jazic? everyone is talking about two former Generation Adidas players, but Ante Jazic might be more of a value to Marsch. Ante Jazic is a International Canadian player, played with Marsch, and is a valuable veteran with leadership and impact player. Salary $123,500.00.

"Marsch said he will seek players who want to come to Montreal to establish themselves here as building blocks for the league's newest franchise."

Nagamura was injured most of the season, we all know of his talent and capabilities so I’m glad we protect hem I like the protected list in a 80 percent I would have not protected Moreno over / Mondaini or the French guy and my other concern is we got the new player and we do not know how will he fit to Frasier stile of play and you protect hem over Gavin/ Mayen or even Lahoud
Regardless of who stays and who lives CHIVAS USA cant F^*$%#%$#^ it up in 2012
    That’s all I’m saying

WOW. We just lost Zarek Valentin to Montreal and traded Justin Braun & Gerson Mayen for James Riley. WTF i like Riley but that is like a 3 for 1 for Montreal. They worked us.

I just hope you guys have more up your sleeves, regarding signings and trades to make up for today.

"The Impact also sent some allocation money to Chivas USA."

"Chivas USA compensated for the loss of the young defender by receiving starting Seattle right back James Riley, 29, from Montreal, who had selected him just minutes earlier."

Braun and Mayen for Riley and allocation money. This makes sense.

    Salaries report 2011 season
    http://www.mlsplayers.org/salary_info.html
    Mayen $32,604.00 + Braun $87,500.00 = $120,104.00 save
    Valentine $132,000.00 vs. Riley $97,962.50 = $34,037.50 difference

Best of luck to all 3 players that went to Montreal.

    WTF?

Riley's notoriously boneheaded in the back. Autogolazos. Back passes. Good grief we just downgraded an already weak back line.

And it's not like we're clearing space considering they've all got young contracts. Worst moves in cusa history. Bye bye future. God I hate the direction were taking right now. I'm losing faith
