ok so a coin toss determines who goes first.

A one day window, but you can bet your bottom dollar teams will be wheeling and dealing at the MLS Cup. Really anything will be in place prior to Monday.
Teams will just have 1 day to get the paper work in.

    Here comes the draft rules....
    this we knew.

That was a guess before, but good to see in writing.

    Nunez, Goodson, Wagenfuhr
Ok this one is important and will allow some teams a big break. LA for example doesn't have to protect Bo and Herzog. Prior it was "you can only unprotect one SI" (see below) this rule lets LA unprotect 2.

    See above....
but also graduating SIs... Vaca, Shavar Thomas, (anyone else?) become SI and will limit KC and Metro.

    Nice list of players.
Makes you wonder how DJ and EJ got through last season.

    as before.

wow, talk about no return... Pena and Vaudreuil?

So this next week is going to be REAL interesting.

Most of that makes sense and seems fair. (Can we get Toni to 'retire'? Was that mean?)

    That's actually not true.

IIRC, Pena and Hartman were taken by Chicago deliberately as tradebait. LA left both players unprotected because both of them had made it clear that they didn't want to play anywhere but LA, and LA figured that would scare both Miami and Chicago from taking them, allowing them to protect two other players. Bob Bradley called LA's bluff, took them, traded them back to LA, and got Chris Armas and Jorge Campos in return.

However, David Vaudreuil was probably not the best pick for Miami.

They didn't announce it as far as I saw and I don't see it on mlsnet.com.net.com's site...

They showed a replay of it during halftime, I think.

It wasn't really clear, but the way it was cut made it look like Chivas got the first pick

Does anyone know whether the protected player list will be made public and if so where we can find it?

Thanks for the info :) . I wasn't sure if it would be public or kept confidential.
