We could only expose one SI and I guess that was Abundis. Sure hate to expose Larentowicz or Riley and find us holding onto Lochhead but I guess we had no choice because of the SI exposure rule

    Dempsey, Clint
    Dorman, Andy
    Heaps, Jay
    Joseph, Shalrie
    Lochhead, Tony
    Noonan, Pat
    Parkhurst, Michael
    Ralston, Steve
    Reis, Matt
    Sims, Willie
    Smith, Khano
    Twellman, Taylor

Other than Lochhead that a good list of players.

I thought Avery got his green card. Wouldn't Abundis be the SI?

I like Riley, too, but he's honestly the kind of decent, solid squad-filler that gets traded a lot.

What does it say when the 2 times we have needed to expose some players - both times we have included our "captain" in these expansion drafts, Joe Franchino?

I wonder if any other teams exposed their captain for this draft? Maybe someone can look it up and see if the last time we exposed Franchino, how many other teams exposed their captain as well.

Good strategic gamesmanship or telling truth?

I guess if no one will post the actual list of those exposed I will and I will delete the DV Roster players with zero chance of being selected:

    Abundis, Jose Manuel
    Brown, Kyle
    Cancela, Jose
    Franchino, Joe
    Gonzalez, Miguel
    Hernandez, Daniel
    John, Avery
    Larentowicz, Jeff
    Leonard, Marshall
    Riley, James

~Any of these players selected by Toronto will have to be a SI or a YI
~They can only select one at most from that list
~They will be trying to sign Canadian players as much as possible and may use a lot of their Cap to try to get Canadians playing overseas back home thus making Pepe a very expensive option.
~Leonard is coming off a major injury
~Kyle Brown and Gonzalez are unproven and no better than a draft pick
~Joey is close to his "sell by date"
~Abundis has not proven himself in MLS

    This leaves

    Hernandez
    Larentowicz
    Riley
    John

If I was Mo Johnson I would go for Larentowicz.

DC did, but that was because it was an open secret that Nelsen was just waiting for the official transfer window to sign for Blackburn.

I'd take Avery John if I could. A hard nosed left back with World Cup experience and is known to keep his mouth shut despite being in crap conditions. That sounds like someone I'd want.

    I'm
Wont all these draft picks be considered SIs? They are not Domestic Players. They get to make 10 selections but only have 4 SI slots. Do these drafted players not count toward SI roster spots or what?

Some may be young enough to be YI's

FWIW, I don't think toronto will take anyone from the Revs exposed list

They can also pick players who would be good trade bait, i.e. select Avery John or James Riley to get Ante Jazic from LA, or package a Revs player and another player to get Onstad or DeRosario (a longshot, but conceivable).

I seem to recall that they get three additional players who would not be SIs for any other MLS teams. So they could take Joe Franchino and he would count under that status, while Avery John would be a full-fledged SI.

Could you please go back to the post you copied this from and copy the full address, not just the link as it displays (where it's abbreviated with the three dots)? TIA.

Yeah, I really like that spin move he does while guarding Jaime Moreno!
It's just good tactics. Unfortunately, he won't be taken. Toronta wouldn't be stupid enough to be looking at slow, undersized O-30's.
Nah, you have to look for MLS-ready players as an expansion team. He wasn't ready for a single minute with the Revs, so Toronto can't afford to waste a pick on a "prospect".

DH isn't likely to be taken because of his contract and his age.

I'm really worried about Riley and Larentowicz. On one hand, Riley's got great versatility (about 4 different positions), but he also has some injury history, so that may help.

Larentowicz is an up-and-comer in my opinion. OTOH, I believe that dmid is considered about the *easiest* position to fill (as U.S. players are much better "destroying" than "creating").

The fact that Nicol is taking a calculated risk at exposing John tells me that he still sees potential in Lochhead. And, I wouldn't bet against Nicol coaching someone up - anyone who can make *decent* players out of Franchino and Heaps can work miracles, IMO.

I would have exposed Heaps and protected Larentowicz...
