Before arriving, Garth described Cordoba as a player a bit similar to Javier but with more upside

Unsaid was any reference to more downside too.

Herrera is better IMO, but good for him! I hope he gets an assist in his 1st game back with the Nats.

Lennon fits into Berhalter's system better, IMO.
I also think Atlanta has utilized him in a much better fashion than we ever did here. The moronic "he's not a natural outside defender" stuff limited understanding the role of modern day wingers.

But I'd still punch him in the face

Chris Seitz announced his retirement today. He played a whopping fifteen years and still barely outlasted Nicky. Funny how many people were once excited to have him take over for Rimando, even as a rookie.

And speaking of former RSL goalkeepers retiring, Jeff Attinella has done so, too.

Bummer for him. I thought he was a pretty decent keeper, and he played well fit Portland for a year or two. Injuries, right? Shoulder, then hip?

Albert started in the 2 of a 4-2-3-1 for SEA in their scrimmage. I have wondered how he would look in that kind of role. Makes sense to get all their best players on the field.

Edit: Looking at the boxscore of the game, Donny Toia is with Portland. I guess RSL has to sign Blanco now to even things out.

    • SEA: Stefan Frei (Stefan Cleveland 60') – Joe Hafferty (Cody Baker 60'), Yeimar Gómez Andrade (Achille Robin 60'), AB Cissoko (Jackson Ragen 60'), Randy Mendoza (Sota Kitahara) – Kelyn Rowe (Eric Kinzer 60'), Albert Rusnak (Hal Uderitz 60') – Dylan Teves (Jack-Ryan Jeremiah 60'), Reed Baker-Whiting (Juan Alvarez 60'), Léo Chú (Sam Adeniran 60') – Raul Ruidiaz (Will Bruin 60')
I read it as they were playing a 4-2-3-1 (the -- separates the positions). So Albert was in the 2 group with Rowe. I'm not familiar enough with SEA's players to know if everyone was playing their typical position or not. I could very well be wrong.

Sucks to see Albert in a Sounders jersey. It looks like he got a few decent touches on the ball in the first half.

From the MLS league article you posted, this was kind of hidden:
“Head coach Brian Schmetzer fielded his old 4-2-3-1 formation for the opening phase of the match that Rusnak played, rather than the three-back system his side used most of last season.” Albert wouldn’t play in the “2” group here.

Cissoko is a CB who can play holding midfielder, but there is no way they put him in an attacking role and put Albert in the 8 spot in a 4-2-3-1. Rowe has played a box-to-box role for Sea primarily but can play in an attacking role. However, he's much more of an 8 than Albert.

So Carlos Salcedo is with Toronto now. And he lasted two games before getting a retroactive red card for a nasty foul. Video is about halfway down this page.

How in the hell did the assistant referee signal just for a throw in there?

And then the center gave a yellow and VAR didn't send it for red card review. Utterly bizarre.
