My beef was with Plata. Plata made it obvious he wanted nothing to do with RSL anymore, but late in the season he consistently got the nod over Bofo. That drove me nuts.
Was playing Plata over him a ploy to get $$$ out of his transfer? At least, I remember the being the speculation.
Atiba Harris is still playing in the USL. Too bad Oklahoma City doesn't come to the Salt Lake Valley this year.
Speaking of ex-RSL players, how about Xango? I've wondered about them a time or two, usually when donning one of my RSL jerseys or jackets that have the sponsor on them. Wikipedia tells me about all of their troubles and even has a "see also" link to "ineffective cancer treatments." It was folded into another MLM called Zija International - also based in Lehi, as was Xango - in 2017. Then Zija was acquired last year by another MLM, Isagenix of Gilbert, AZ. And if you go there, you can still buy Xango juice. So if you've got a hankering for some mangosteen juice or nostalgia for getting a sample on the way into the stadium, good news! (I am worried now about what sort of ads I am going to get online now that I've looked at these sites.)
Jeez. It's like an MLM of MLM's I'm going to need a diagram. Perhaps in the shape of a pyramid, or a reverse funnel.
No kidding! Just watching that whole team brings back such great memories and makes the current situation look even more bleak. I watched the 2009 MLS Cup game again the other day. Halcyon days.
I distinctly remember telling my brother it would be cool if he scored as he came in. We completely lost it. We're also somewhere in that clip as well
Kyle Beckerman can now be added to this thread. I really hope the team is smart enough to get him on staff. https://www.rsl.com/post/2020/12/21/real-salt-lake-icon-kyle-beckerman-announces-his-retirement
Just makes it worse that Freddy couldn't get him to 500 appearances. Hopefully he stays a part of this club.
When I read the announcement the room momentarily got a little dusty. This truly marks the end of an era.
