On the other hand, if Anderson Julio truly did just get signed in Liga MX when it was supposedly all but a done deal for RSL... that's par for the course.
I googled the guy and watched youtube on him I find it funny how many times it is "highlighted" that he has a breakaway and misses
So, what is this video supposed to show? That he can't finish? That he likes to dribble the ball? I'm kind of confused. If these are all the highlights that they can find of him, then maybe RSL dodged a bullet. I don't think we need another player that can't finish.
We do need someone to take Bofo's place. What's an RSL game without a ball being sent out of the stadium?
Guess it depends on if he can hone his shot and get better about passing after beating players. Not everyone can dribble past players consistently. If he can do that, and up the rest of his game, he'd be a good signing.
Danny Acosta officially signed by LA Galaxy. He was picked up during the waiver draft. https://www.lagalaxy.com/post/2020/01/08/la-galaxy-sign-defender-danilo-acosta
Mehdi Ballouchy has been hired as an assistant with NYCFC. He has been with their academy setup since retiring from MLS.

Great for him. I don’t get the lament of many fans on Twitter and elsewhere that are so torn up that we lost Bofo. I certainly don’t share that complaint but if he goes on to do anything other than what he did for RSL every season then perhaps I will be proven wrong. Until then I expect a couple more goals, defenses figure him out, his production becomes sporadic, he gets into a few scuffles, finds his way to the bench, makes impact as a sub, finds his way back to the starting lineup, rinse and repeat. Could be wrong. Hopefully for Bofo he’s got it all figured out and he makes RSL look silly for letting him go. My money is on Bofo being Bofo.
This is mostly how I feel too. I was actually happy for him to go to Pumas in the hope that his game can develop there. His ceiling at RSL had been reached.
Olmes Garcia is no longer with Quindio. He's now on trial in Bulgaria. I could tell you the name of the club, but does it even matter?
You were pretty actively covering the team when we signed him. Do you recall who we were going to sign when he caught the FO's fancy instead?
Wow! That's a lot of hate for a Bulgarian club. You would think they kicked your dog and knocked over your snowman.
Maybe Jared Borgetti? I only remember getting a tip that RSL was looking to sign 1 or 2 attacking players from South America...and I think I chased that thing for 2 months. Back then social media tips were still a bit limited, so there was alot of legwork involved and I contacted maybe a couple of dozen reporters in S. America to try to round up tips. I also remember having multiple conversations with Sam and Trey that I knew who the signing was like 2-3 weeks before it was announced, but I agreed to hold back from sharing at their request. And then I told them I was going to publish it because I got a tip from a reporter in Colombia who was going to run a story announcing it the next day. Several hours later they put a teaser on RSL.com and the soapbox had a post announcing it. I always felt that they had fed them the info. That was the beginning of the end for me. Actually...the truth is I was burnt out by that time, and that was just the nail in the coffin. It's much more enjoyable being a fan. I sat on a lot of information back then...Saborio probably the biggest of them, the infighting between Checketts and DLH, or some of the B/S that Yura's agent pulled trying to get his transfer to Europe to happen before his contract expired and Champions League started. Not sure why I held back like that, but to be fair the team did share a ton of insight with me.
Almost all reporters covering a team hold back. In turn the team typically has the backs of the reporters that do and they trust. It's gotta be tough having to be careful like that.
Bofo received recent USMNT call-up for Costa Rica friendly, but PUMAS held him back. https://www.goal.com/en-us/news/sau...n-call-after-pumas/1qfbfzzz0zmkk1vi42h7plf0ov
I found this in my stuff recently. Maybe it will make you feel better. Full disclosure: I don’t actually follow Bulgarian soccer, but I served a mission there and have that pin for some reason!
The USMNT: We should look at Bofo? The RSL sub? GTFO. The USMNT: Bofo plays for Pumas? Call him in ASAP.
Those were the days. In case anyone is curious about placing my age, I was there from ’01–’03. I’m heading back over there in June, which is well after the season ends, so I guess I won’t be watching Olmes play.
