If we picked up Diogo’s option at his current pay, I’d be even more irate!!! Even if Julio “only” personally generated 6g/1a, you also need to look at the performance of the team as a whole when he is on the field and off. For us, he’d completely change a game as a 2nd half sub, unlocking the high press and opening up opportunities for others. $800k isn’t that far over the max cap/player. He’s pricey, but I think worth it for a team that uses him correctly.
Goncalves has a guaranteed contract for 2026, there wasn't an option. Only have to buy out one year though, the other two are options.
But that bicycle… Surely he wasn’t only going to score the one wonder goal. He had loads more in him, right? Right? Oh…
U-22 swings need to be as big as possible. Signings like Piol need to be done by the Monarchs. NYRB just signed a guy that was on loan (with an option to buy) with their MLSNP team last year. Look at Toklomati with Charlotte, too.
Danny Musovski's parents are North Macedonian, and he's reportedly set for a call-up to their NT as it readies for the WC26 playoffs in UEFA Group D - Denmark, then Czechia or Ireland if they win that game. But what I really like is that they already have forwards named Minovski and Mitrovski. Minovski, Mitrovksi, and Musovski playing together? Forget it!
Brooks Lennon still being a free agent is interesting. Guess the price point of $740k (his reported 2025 salary) isn't appealing to anyone yet, since his skill level is still plenty high to be a good RB in MLS.
So many free agents that still haven't signed. I'm surprised with camp starting this week and MLS games in 6 weeks, less for teams in CCC.
Lennon is on trial with DC United. But . . . he plays the same position as ex-RSL man Aaron Herrera, who is currently the RB at DC United. And their contracts (Lennon $740k, Herrera $920k) certainly mean only one will play with/for DC United.
Put Herrera at RCB in a back 3, that's the only way to play both. Lennon is probably looking at a pay cut.
That’s a weird one. those were my thoughts: Lennon more as a RW. Transfer window opens in a 10days though, so….
Richie Ledezma is in the process of switching to the Mexican national team. Apparently, he filed for a one-time switch back in November. https://www.espn.com/soccer/story/_/id/47623526/mexico-calls-dual-nationals-ledezma-gutierrez
I thought Córdova was decent for a sub-$1M striker. I’d put him at about the same level as Anderson Julio. He doesn’t seem like a 15+ goal guy, but a decent player.
STL is starting out with a 3-4-1-2. Orozco is the starting RCB. Don't know if the Cordova move is official yet, but he's not on the gameday roster.
