O.k., maybe not an "ex-Rev" in the classic sense of someone like former players Rob Ukrop or Bojan Vuckovic, but "Dangerous" Dave Kartunen is "movin' on up" to the big time.

The ex-Revolution intern and staffer is leaving his job as a reporter with WSAV-TV Channel 3 (NBC) in Savannah, GA to take on a job in Miami with WSVN-TV Channel 7 News (FOX).

Dave cut his professional teeth doing radio for B.U. Hockey, and also doing the pioneering, early work for the Revolution in multimedia production efforts.

WSVN is one of the top local news outlets in the country.

Good to hear that! Congrats to Dave! Glad to see paying your dues eventually pays off...it's a long way from Yuma, Arizona.

    IIRC,

WSVN is a TV outlet that is owned by Ed Ansin.

The same Ed Ansin who owns channel 7 in Boston.

Wouldn't it be nice if he ends up with the sister station?
By the way, his little brother is a pretty fair soccer player.

    I rate this thread a 5!

Any thread that get a Rob Ukrop mention gets the Scott Zawadzki seal of approval.

So you're a member of Rob's "Happy Dork" fanclub? The people whose tag line is "It's cool to be a dork"

Anyone know if Rob is still playing for the Richmond Kickers?

Hey guys, long time no speak.

The Magpie is always too kind when I find a fortuitous bounce in front of the net. Thanks for all of your kind words.

To add a couple of things... Indeed, WSVN is part of Sunbeam Television. Their only other television property is WHDH Channel 7 in Boston. Don't think this didn't cross my mind.

That Bumptious Rex... you would think he's a relative or something... in fact, the younger of the Kartunen brothers, Andrew, is making waves in the soccer community. Golden Gloves winner with U-17 National Champ Irvine Strikers last year... going to Stanford in the fall to play a little ball. You can also find him with the U-18 Nats, whenver they get together, which isn't often enough.

Put me in the "Ex-Revs" category, but let's hope he ends up in the "Future Revs" category... I can dream, but maybe he'll end up on the pitch in Foxboro and I'll be pitched up on the end of the antennae in the same television market some day.

Hope all is well. I'm debating pitching an "Offseason in Miami with Joe-Max Moore" feature... something tells me it won't fly in the midst of all of the breaking news I'll be covering.

See you on the airwaves... www.wsvn.com

We're not in Yuma any more.
