According to a report in today's Los Angeles Times (I don't have a link immediately available) by Grahame Jones, ex-Revolution player Giuseppe "Beppe" Galderisi suffered a heart attack on Monday evening and is intensive care at a hospital in Padua, Italy, this after receiving heart surgery (angioplasty according to an Italian news source). FYI, The Magpie
Galderisi Stricken http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-soccer21jan21,1,274767.column?coll=la-headlines-sports [Registration required] Former Italian international Giuseppe Galderisi, who played for two seasons in MLS with the Tampa Bay Mutiny and New England Revolution, is in intensive care in a hospital at Padua, Italy, after undergoing heart surgery. Galderisi, 40, suffered a heart attack Monday night. He won the Italian Serie A championship three times, twice with Juventus and once with Verona, and played 10 times for Italy. He was an assistant coach of the Revolution for two seasons.
Best of luck to our "Padova Paisan" for a speedy recovery. He didn't seem like one of those players who gets way out of shape after he stops playing. He looked at least reasonably fit when he was the assistant here, but obviously there's more to a heart condition than outward appearances. It prolly didn't help that he smoked like a chimney... Tom
