I'd love to know the story. He was called into camp cupcake and didn’t play. He had some “injury” and was never called up again.

Wow. I know that he was undervalued by GGG this past season based on him not fitting the system and not fully adapting (despite an apparent effort to) to it, but I didn’t think he’d get looked at twice by the Mexican NT. Good for him, 100%, and shame on us if this ends up biting us in the ass on a national level.

You want 'the problem child' on the USMNT?!

Ya know, I'm surprised and disappointed that both Djordje and Guti have not been given more call ups, after both had strong U20 performances.
Will be interesting to see if either get another sniff, and if Oregel, Gaga and Brady fair any better.

All jokes aside, I always thought another coach and system could give him a way to shine. His ~65 minutes against Charlotte (I believe) last year was easily Franco level and quality. Maybe higher. Could a run with the USMNT have brought that out consistently?

I have no idea if Guti or Gregg is responsible for preventing that from happening.

  8. Gaga has made the bench for Chelsea a few times this season & Brady will probably be the #3 keeper for the US. Oregel has little chance of any more US call ups at any level, though he will be Olympic eligible. The next likely senior USMNT player will probably be Cupps, maybe as soon as post World Cup.

Unless we spoke to them there is no way to know, and even then there are probably multiple views...

My view, despite his quality touch, movement and creativity, just this year Guti 'grew into his adult body' and was still 'figuring out his physicality'...having been 'scrawny', he clearly felt pressure to 'man up' and struggled to develop that part of his game...see red cards. And the more unfortunate piece (by all reports) he just wasn't bringing the 'best scoring ability GGG has coached' from the training pitch to the matches...until the late season Miami game where he banged a GOALAZO to qualify the Fire for the playoffs.

IMO his ceiling still remains well above his current form...he's a young 22!

If Cupps makes it to senior NT call up status I will be very very happy. I think it is possible but...the thought never occurred to me he may end up that high.

Gaga got a call up to Poland and ended up refusing after fan backlash. If Guti refused this call up he'd be hated in Mexico.

    Especially after requested the switch.

Why was there backlash about SLONINA playing for Poland?
Who would care enough to provide that backlash?

I would say good for him.

In Basel’s 4-3 win over Zürich, Shaqiri had an assist, three goals, and a yellow card.

    A yellow card?!?!?!
    Loser!
    Bench him!

Oh, and, also how many of those "three goals" were penalties, huh?
What is that you say? None were penalties and all were "real" goals?

I guess that Shaqiri guy was not that bad, after all!:whistling:

Kellyn Acosta to Pogoń Szczecin is official!

Kellyn Acosta is a new player of Pogoń Szczecin!
    https://pogonszczecin.pl/w/kellyn-acosta-nowym-zawodnikiem-pogoni-szczecin-

    Good luck, Kellyn.

I am sure overlap will join the Szczecin Big Soccer site just to continue to crap all over Acosta.

Sure, the Polish forum on Big Soccer is dead as no one has posted there since 2024, but I am sure they would love to see long, screeching posts, stuffed with screen shots and "heat maps" about how much Kellyn Acosta sucks. The Polish fans will find that endearing.

    Just kidding. ;)
Okay, maybe this was a step too far! :whistling:

It’s ********ing crazy. Bring him back and get him a sports therapist to help him mature. That or send him to Everton.

You could do worse than to have Moyes try ro help him mature.
