So, have you decided which Chicago Fire Player you will irrationally and myopically hate yet?;)

It took you moments to "pivot" from hating Xherdan Shaqiri with the light of a thousand white hot suns to Kellyn Acosta.

You must have a player in mind.

My money is on Jonathan Bamba as the player you execrate next, ...at least unless Robert Lewandowski arrives! :sneaky:

I thought about creating a poll, but that would be cruel.

    (just kidding, of course.)

So, Acosta left with 3 goals and 3 assists in 55 appearances.

For the record, I am thrilled the saga is over.

I wish he had panned out as much as many would have liked.
Contrary to believe, I was not a fan of his prior to his coming to the Fire, but was 'hopeful' of a USMNT joining the team.
He started out just fine, but it just was not working out and by August, 2024, that was pretty clear.

Not the worst player the Fire have ever had, not in the 50 worst players the Fire have ever had.
However, he was a pretty major disappointment.

I do not irrationally hate anyone…

Unfortunately the Fire have had 3 expensive poor fit players (Medran, Shaqiri, Acosta), one after another, that (to me) clearly undermined the team’s quality of play.

I have outlined why I believe each of them to have been ‘problems’, and don’t not expect everyone to agree my logic…but it is logic.

I do not see anyone on the current roster (as of today!) that I feel is a ‘problem’ and hope we are past that pattern.

That said, via a ‘bang for the buck lens’, Bamba is the one that needs to step it up a notch to be viewed as ‘DP worthy’ and a ‘good value’….but he’s not close to being ‘a problem’ like the other 3.

Bamba’s shortcomings are overshadowed by a better team and Zinckernagel’s ridiculous season.

Hear me out though - Acosta objectively sucked outside of maybe a handful of games, while Shaq was more often than not our best player.

I’m not going to rehash it all, but I’ll just say being the ‘best player’ and being ‘a problem’ can both be true.

No, he was never our best player.

He was a very good and still developing player, but not our best player.

He was also never "being a problem" as far as I know.

Not sure why you are chiming in on this one...and quoting me instead of Bunge...I never said or implied Guti was our best player.

Regarding 'best', that's a term that needs defining..."by what measure".

He just wasn’t the complimentary solution. He should have been Zinckernagel. Instead he was sold off.

He was probably complimentary, OR he would have been a "problem"! :D

Veiled as attempted humor, but It’s simply bunge’s tiresome…er, some may say, myopic…distraction technique from the disaster Shaq was…every time he’s mentioned…it was someone else’s fault! Look at the birdy!
