Was watching Middlesbrough vs Cardiff last night and I saw a familiar face. Leo percovich is their goalkeeping coach.

    This is telling:

But after the 2020 season, there was also a sense that it was time to move on. Mihailovic wanted to be the player, but the Fire didn't want to hand him the keys to the attack.

"I'm just thinking, 'I'm playing in the, with the club that I grew up watching,' and you hope to be an important player for that team going forward," Mihailovic said. "When it's suddenly your time to go, it's tough."

So, instead, we had nobody with the keys to the attack for 2021.

He goes to Montreal and registers 16 assists in his first season there.
By comparison, for the 2021 season, the Fire registered 33 assists as a team. Medran led the team with 6, followed by 4 for Herbers and Sekulic.

    Djordje > Medran

Djordje's also currently playing better than our 8million dollar man.

Drove me F'n nuts watching the FO kiss the ring of the selfish playing RM academy flunkie (making a million) and assert a thumb of authority (bend the knee!) on our most promising homegrown(making $140k) with clear ability to become a star and the face of the organization.

People will parrot "he had an attitude", "he was going to leave anyway" or "needed a change of scenery to develop further", but that's all BS.

Djorjie was benched by two different coaches because of a shitty attitude. Getting fired may have been the only way to help him snap out of his delusions.

...or, to convince others that his "delusions" were reality.

Of course I can't speak to whether Djordie had a sh*tty attitude or not but as a longtime player (retired) and fan and student of the game (and this dumb team) I can say beyond measure the midfield was noticeably more cohesive when he was on the field. It was clear he had developed the technical ability and was showing flashes of talent proving his ceiling was high and only going to improve with minutes played (which he wasn't really getting). His set ball ability shows the kid spent countless hours working on it when his peers were attending parties. Maybe his attitude (if he had one) had to do with the fact he knew he was better than guys making 400% more $ than him and he was overlooked precisely because he came through the academy and was a homegrown talent? He was foolishly let go at a pittance and I for one wish he was still here but that's how the cookie crumbles. No doubt getting traded was a part of his journey and no doubt it probably DID help his maturity and maybe help him have more of a chip on his shoulder to prove he was worthy of playing at this level and to prove the Fire FO wrong. He's laughing now and I wish him the best of luck.

re: the firing of Charlotte FC's manager not even halfway into the season

Ramirez’s lineup choices were another source of tension. Multiple sources pointed to Ramirez’s preference for players like Brandt Bronico in midfield instead of higher-priced options like Sergio Ruiz as something that not only created problems with individuals not being selected, but also with a front office that brought the players in to play leading roles only for them to be reserves behind a player making a comparatively low salary.

Who would've thought that Brandt "Bronobro" Bronico would be a coach killer?

seemed like a great teammate, but also unsurprising to see him as a coaching litmus test as a starter

I mean, the thing that you guys aren't considering is that maybe he actually is just playing better than Ruiz, who could just be an overpriced bust.

  21. Today's Fire team is screaming out for a Bronico type player. Central midfield depth is nonexistent and the kids aren't ready yet.

If we played another attacking midfielder (Shaqiri, Torres, Ivanov and one other), we could drop Gimenez or Navarro to the bench and have that depth covered.
